In a statement police said the four-week search was a change of tack from the original search.

“The initial search, while extensive, was focused only on finding William – a little boy who was lost – and not with a view of deliberate human intervention,” police said in a statement.

“William was not located, and the search did not uncover any evidence relevant to his disappearance.

NSW Public Order and Riot Squad Police search near Bonny Hills on the NSW mid-north coast in March, 2015.

The riot squad search at Bonny hills and that was not called a forensic search was it?

Could this forensic search have something to do with.. the plan way back to track the movements of everyone who was in the area ... Every human movement within it will be tracked on computer.

I think it could be very likely that they are having fresh crime analysts assisting them now. Hence the "new lead". Trying a different tack, based on someone's expertise.

Perhaps looking at what might have happened if a local resident did this crime? Someone who was walking the street on that day?

So does this mean they are looking for possible buried remains?

Thank you for all that SA. I still don't really see it. It seems the squad has mostly an anti-terrorist and oppress-political-enemies focus. I would have thought there was a big difference between searching for a missing person in that context--say, an illegal immigrant--and searching for a child's body or evidence in relation to and at the site of a child abduction. And if they're such specialists in evidence retrieval, why weren't they used earlier?

Yes, that’s the end goal. As for me, I’m not sure that I want to know, especially if William was harmed by someone.
Yes Bo if he is indeed found deceased it will be devastating to those who have kept faith and hope that he may still be alive & out there somewhere. I like to think that myself sometimes, when I see that cheeky smile, that surely the world could not be so cruel.

They were used earlier. The little pic I posted, with my first post about them, is them searching for William when he first went missing. Only they were not in charge of the search, at that point.

I would think with their ability to detect chemicals and other substances, they would have the equipment to detect forensically in this instance. The closest experts we have for this type of thing.

There won't be a heck of a lot left to detect, after almost 4 years.

Not searching in the same way, this time.

On the other hand, this could be their last ditch effort before it goes to an Inquest.

Hopefully they are working on information received and it's not the last effort.

It is possible that the Coroner/Police Chief has said that every square centimetre of that area must be gone over before an inquest .... or before charging somebody based on circumstantial evidence, to dispel the defence that William wandered off.

Yes Possible, but 4 weeks - that's a LOT of resources to use when you consider the initial search was 10 days.

Bullcrap :cool::cool:

No way would they use resources to this extent if they weren't looking for something in particular. (meaning William)

I agree, sleep. Too many resources for too long a time period for a search based purely on spec. Either they have good intel that there is something to be found or they are dotting their i’s and crossing their t’s leading up to an inquest.
