Defence barrister Margaret Cunneen SC is now giving her closing arguments. Telling the court “the only Homicide expert” the court has heard from during this case is Jubelin.

If there is no corroborating evidence how can such testimony be accepted in Court? That is what I do not understand. And I really don't understand what the relevance is to the Trial of allegations.

The testimony IS the evidence. There are two types of evidence ... direct and circumstantial. The only direct evidence is eye witness testimony. ALL other evidence, including forensic evidence, is considered circumstantial.

Cunneen told the court Supt Cook’s approach to the Tyrrell case “set Mr Jubelin up as a problem” because “his dedication was such that he would not readily give up an investigation”. Saying “that may be the basis for what is really an extraordinary prosecution”.

Cunneen told the court “this is not the prosecution of a dishonest man or a liar, it’s the prosecution of a fine servant of our state over many, many years with many successes on his record”.
