i saw articles where it said it could take months.

But since then they have changed that, and said it would continue for 4 more weeks at least. They need to wait for the soil to be processed and the materials to be tested before they give up.

The new Commissioner has only just said yesterday that it will carry on as long as is necessary.

People have also been speculating that all of this public drama has been for the purpose of making someone/s uncomfortable .... what if all the stories about extended for weeks has been some of that? OMG, can't wait for 45 more minutes.. !!!

NSW Police will provide an update on the search for William Tyrrell on Friday morning, after divers searched a dam on the mid-north coast for any sign of the missing boy.
