I MADE AN ERROR. The "bathroom" window I should was actually his kitchen window. The bathroom window is actually a little further to the left behind a hedge and it is even smaller (but still works in the same manner). It faces east @branmuffin. I apologize for the confusion. Certainly seems to me to be logical that it was "cracked" to let in a bit of fresh, cool air.

Went out to the Circle K at 19th Ave. and Northern on Friday evening to drop off a flyer about the 3 people seen with the car on New Years Eve night (mentioning possibly a purchase of gas in a container). Was pleased to learn that LE had already been there and took video or looked at it. The results were not known to the clerk. But at least they are on the case.
I made a similar stop at the station across from the Sheraton (clerk was new and knew nothing but kept flyer.)
I made one last stop at the QT at 19th Ave. and Dunlap. Requests go to corporate security and they have a web portal that LE can access and review any QT video. BUT the nice manager convinced the Security agent to pull up that evening (late at night) and he was going through it when I left. He would have contacted MCSO if he saw anything.
On Saturday, I went to Table Mesa Road (West) and put up some flyers and papered about 20 cars. Did find a guy, B.B. who is out there frequently. He collects shells because his son just bought a reloader. He was there on New Years but didn't see anything out of the ordinary other than when LE showed up.

It has been over a month since the murder. Since there has been no news of an arrest or a release of suspect pictures, do you all who are experienced with this think that this case has gone cold or do you think the police are still working actively on it?

I think LE is actively working this case. Do you know the Armaud Arbery case? The convicted perps walked around free and clear after filming the murder for over 3 months before they were arrested.

Probably the answer to your question would be finding out how many murders in the past two years have PPD solved. In 2020 148 people were murdered in Phoenix. I would presume the numbers are similar in 2021. From what I can gather suspects have been arrested in many of those cases. It doesn't mean LE has lost interest in solving a crime because they don't provide updates to the general public.

The reality is some crimes are just much harder to solve than others. Being on WS supports that claim. There are thousands of unidentified remains found, years after their murder, without any evidence to even identify the person let alone solve the case.

I absolutely think they are actively working it. It takes time to gather all of the video, witness interviews, cell phone data, etc. They only have a short window after they arrest a perp to keep them. I honestly believe they are watching and gathering all the while. I just honestly hope they have SOME leads!

IMO they are still actively working. I got word via DS that the detective has contacted the family recently. He indicated they had gotten more information and were working through it. That's all that was relayed to me, I have no details and I got the idea DS doesn't either. As a layperson you don't ever really know but others (@Angleterre a former detective in UK) outlined a vast amount of work that Detectives must got through on any investigation.
If the group with the car later that night are NOT connected to what happened in the morning, that makes it all the more difficult and then points back to a recent encounter that went horribly wrong. An encounter that maybe very few knew about.

Homicide and clearance rates are highly variable. Some years Phx PD has had less than a 50% clearance rate while other years it’s over 70%. If you go with the conservative number, they clear about half of all homicide cases in a year, many of which take months to clear. I would only be worried on this case if an entire year went by with no arrests

I tried to find some stats regarding murders and clearance rates to find the types of murders that they have no trouble clearing. Usually those are domestic type murders or impulsive acts. Not sure about gang murder stats in relation to all homicide cases. I presume they may be more difficult to solve.

I have not followed this case as well as some of you, so forgive the question if it is easily answered, have the police put out any information regarding Benjamins murder? Are they looking for the people seen in the car? Did that actually happen? Considering the circumstances surrounding his death isn't it off that we know so little? No plea for information, no pictures of the car or the people seen driving it? Have investigators asked for information?

To my knowledge, there has not been any specific* request for information (posting images, location/time information) which leads me to believe that they are pursuing a lead and do not want to show their hand. It is very likely that they have circumstantial evidence pointing to one or more suspects right now and they are actively building a case against them so that an indictment is possible. Surveillance of a suspect could take a long time depending on what LE is looking for. They also could be attempting to locate a witness whose testimony would seal the case. The reason we don’t know these details is because the police don’t want us to know. They won’t go to the media until an arrest is made or they reach a roadblock in the investigation that the public might be able to help with

I hope they are making some progress. It is odd that there has been further information on this case.
