A child that age may need to be woken up to go to the bathroom if they are an especially sound sleeper or have a small bladder. It is not that unusual for a child that age to still have night time accidents. Between 10 and 15 percent of 6 year olds will still have the occasional bed-wetting incident.

IA. Steven Harper, Canada’s Prime Minister, recently announced that beginning January 1, 2013, parents with children who have died or disappeared as a result of a crime will be eligible to receive income support if they take time off work to cope with their loss.

The new income support benefit will provide $350 per week for up to 35 weeks for parents of murdered or missing children who are younger than 18 years old, and whose death or disappearance is the result of a Criminal Code offence.

The government says the benefit will help more than 1,000 parents annually, basing those numbers on a 2008 Statistics Canada crime survery. The total number of youth who were victims of homicide, other offences causing death, kidnapping and abduction was 1,229 in 2008, according to Statistics Canada.

Wow, that is awesome! Isabel's mom, being a nurse, probably has to use up her vacation and sick time and that's it! I'm a nurse, that's how it works.

ETA: I went back to work 5 days after my son's death. I don't remember much of the next two or three years after that, and don't remember anything really significant, except births of grandchildren for the last 8+ years.

I have a friend who had to wake her son up to go the bathroom. Each of my kids 4 and 7 never have gotten up to use the bathroom, and peed the bed once in all these years. Every child is so different. I am not sure how I feel like I got so lucky, since I have the smallest bladder in the world.

ughhh i know, i know Im sounding critical and didnt want to be that way at all. But who were the women cutting up and laughing with Isabel T-shirts before the presser began? Was one of them mom? I didnt feel the same intense emotion with her like I did dad. I know though Dad was the one who found her missing, but to me it seemed different. Im a mom and maybe I am juding too much so if so please just put me in my place. Im going to have to rewatch that and see if I get the same feeling. :(

No, she came at the very last moment and the minute she did, everyone got very serious. I think the aunts came in right before them and were hugged by the supporters. Immediately, the tone became subdued. While the parents spoke, the supporters cried a lot.

The mom tripped on some words. Probably because she is devastated and nervous, but that can affect the flow and the emotional impact. But once it is on video, rewatch. I saw the telltale signs of devastation on her face, the grimace of pain around her mouth, the eyes filled with fear and anguish.

That's what I saw.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion! Fwiw, I recognized the women who were (imo) nervously giggling and chattering before the statement, as friends and family who were at the volunteer tent when I stopped by yesterday.

Those of us at work who could not watch will be most appreciate for a link to the video once it's available.....

Isabelle, I am so sorry. For the loss of your son and for the fact that you had to go back to work so soon. I think parents deserve and need time to grieve.

I heard today that the police were now going to be searching the desert and drainage ditches... Im wondering, why wait so long to search the desert. Desert is ALL OVER here, that wouldve been on the list of the first place to look. There is alot of desert near where the parents live, Hell there is just alot of desert all around us, and when a child has been taken before, that is usually where they found them. Also, about 15-25 min away at the most, there is are caves in the desert where she could be. Why wait to search these areas?

Isabelle, alos want to say, I am so sorry for your loss. You should have never been meant to go back to work like that so soon. My friend lost her daughter to suicide a few years back, and she also was made to go back to work within a few days. It was so extremely hard for her.

HLN coverage after commercials. Vinnie mentioned the parents' statement, so maybe it will be replayed.

Vinnie on HLN to show replay of parents very soon.

When my oldest daughter was five and six, she slept so soundly that I took her took her to the potty every night before I went to bed. I would guide her to the bathroom put her on the pot and say "Go TT honey" and she would. One night I was sick so I had my husband do it. He scooped her out of the bed and said "Let's go TT baby" and she did, ALL over him. He never did that again. She never even woke up.

OMG! It took me this long before I could see my computer monitor again!

What dispair and anquish these parents are going through.

They would give everything they own to have their beautiful little daughter back safe and sound.

I cant stop crying. My heart is broken for this shattered family and for Isa.

I know her brothers are devastated too.

Why does bad things have to happen to good people?

I agree! I asked this yesterday, because it seemed so odd to me that Villasenor stated the only thing volunteers can do right now is pass out fliers. Where are the "caves in the desert"?! I don't know about this!

That was my exact question this morning. There is a homeless population that make their homes in the numerous washes, particularly Pantano and Rillito (north up Craycroft). I had presumed those locations had already been searched.

I thought everything about them was appropriate, given the circumstances here...and their statements underscored my belief from the get-go that they are guilty of nothing surrounding her disappearance. They seemed to present a 'perfect blend' of nerves, emotion, concern, fear, humility, body language, confusion about where to look. Every second was heart-wrenching, tho I have to say I lost it when Dad started crying. Unbelievably heart-wrenching -the horrible horrible thing here is that Isa is God knows where, under God knows whose control/manipulation/abuse. Terrifying, just terrifying. Step up those prayers, everyone!!!!

Also if there is anyone reading here who knows anything, big or small -call and report it. Did you go to Isa's/her brothers' baseball games? See anyone at all who looked, "off?"

Employees at Office Max -Ever been out back for a smoke break and seen someone hanging out in a car faced towards 12th?

If you live in the neighborhood -pay close attention to your neighbors and their comings and goings...has anyone's pattern changed lately? Anyone not shown up for work lately? IIRC, the Sandra Cantu offender was a 50 yr male neighbor (?)

If you work at a grocery store in that Tucson area -is there a normal shopper who has started buying groceries for kids that didn't before? Someone who usually only buys smokes and is now picking up other goodies?

Somebody is holding the KEY. It could even be YOU!

I am thinking they wanted to search the area immediately around the home and neighborhood for any sort of evidence or clues before branching out to more geographically distant likely spots.

I guess I just assume that the area immediately around the home is most likely to contain evidence or clues that can lead LE to some idea of where to go from there or whom to look at closer.

Here's an article about the statement and a still from the statement: http://www.kgun9.com/news/local/148949335.html

Isa's dad seems convinced this was a kidnapping... by the mention of the people who have her,and asking for their demands. Also, when Isa's brother went around on the morning she went missing,he was telling a storekeeper that she had been kidnapped.

Wonder if anyone had threatened dad,or the family before Isa vanished ? They do not seem like they would be the target of kidnappers ? Baffling...

I remember that LE at first said that they could not rule out a custody battle type of situation...why would they say that if both parents lived in the house, and bothy parents were married to each other ? Just stuck in my memory, it did not make sense ?
