The Glendale Police Department tells New Times its investigation into the disappearance of 5-year-old Jahessye Shockley is its "number on priority." But that's not enough for the girl's mother, Jerice Hunter, who continues to publicly bash the police, claiming they're not doing enough to find her daughter.

Hunter and other members of Shockley's family held missing person signs at the State Capitol this afternoon, and criticized police and Child Protective Services for treating Hunter like a suspect.

"I want to talk to Jan Brewer," Hunter, at one point, yelled at the building behind her.

not sure what to make of this: Jhessye's mom said "that she had the older kids do chores in the backyard but locked Jhessye in the home for her safety.

“I locked the door when I left,” said Jerice Hunter, Jhessye’s mother. “When I got back the door was unlocked when I put my key in the door.”

PHOENIX (KPHO) - Sandra Traylor watches for news reports on 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley, missing for more than two weeks now.

"I think a lot about her -- every day it's on the news -- wondering what happened," said Sandra Traylor.

The desperate pleas for help by Jhessye's family are heart wrenching.

"I know the pain. I know the pain," said Sandra Traylor.

Her nephew Myron Traylor went missing July 27, 1988. Thirteen-year-old Myron was last seen buying a cherry soda from OK Fish and Chips in south Phoenix.

Jhessye Shockley's aunt wants police to look at everyone, including girl's mom

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- In a reversal of what they've been saying, some members of Jhessye Shockley's family now seem to be wondering if the 5-year-old's mother could have had something to do with the little girl's disappearance.
Jhessye vanished from her Glendale home nearly three weeks ago while her mother was out running an errand.

Until now, the family has insisted that Jhessye's mom, Jerice Hunter, was not involved in the disappearance of Jhessye.
