http://www.tucsonnewsnow.com/story/26109972/new-details-in-13-year-old-girls-body-found-in-desert

A detail incident report filed by the Pima County Sheriff's Department specifies where and how a 13-year-old girl's body was found in the middle of the desert near Avra Valley. Maribel Gonzales' body was found along Trico Road near Avra Valley Road on June 6...

A 49-page incident report obtained from PCSD details detectives' and deputies' accounts of how they located Gonzales. The records state that drag marks along the road led them to Gonzales' nude body, which was lying face down under a mesquite tree. Detectives stated that the body was underneath two vehicle tires. A concrete pit filled with used vehicle tires was approximately 50 feet away from the body...

Those conducting the autopsy, however, were unable to determine the cause and manner of Gonzales' death at the time and further investigation was required, the records stated.

Citing severe decomposition, It took detectives three weeks to identify Maribel's body. According to her family, they first reported the soon-to-be eighth grader missing on June 4 after she did not show up to a friends house. On June 6 deputies, unaware it was Maribel at the time, deputies recovered her body in a remote desert area in Marana -- nearly 40 miles from her eastside home.

Maribel's father says his little girl had dreams of becoming a race car driver, she loved sports and shopping.

"She was a good kid, she had a big heart, she tried to make people smile and she touched a lot of people," said Adrian Gonzalez.

Adrian Gonzalez is still in disbelief that his daughter is gone. "You just feel hollow inside, you just walk around hollow and you feel like you don't have your heart anymore."

What is wrong with some people :(

To make matters even worse, someone hacked into another young girls Facebook account and admitted to killing Maribel.

Nine On Your Side spoke off-camera with the Avra Valley woman named in the reports who on June 6 discovered the body left on the side of Trico Road. She called 911 after spotting suspicious drag marks, which she described as a trail leading straight to the young girl's body.

The reports say she followed the 25-50 foot path to a pile of tires underneath a mesquite tree. There, she "lifted up the tire and noticed human remains"...

The woman who called 911 says she's glad she located the body when she did. She says a couple of days later the drag marks may not have been there and Gonzalez' mother may never have found her daughter.

Authorities say a teenage Tucson girl found dead in the desert four months ago was murdered.

The Pima County Medical Examiner's Office didn't release the cause of death for 13-year-old Maribel Victoria Gonzales. The autopsy report was released Friday and the cause of her death was redacted.

County Sheriff's officials say the case is still active and release of the information could be harmful to the investigation.

Maribel Gonzales had a lot of Facebook friends, including one of them who told detectives that he met her at 29th and Columbus right around the time she disappeared last June.

“This friend met with Maribel here at the parking lot of the 7/11," said Detective Ryan O'connor. "From here they walked across the street to the pedestrian bridge and that was the last place he ever saw her.”

Det. O'connor added the Facebook friend also told them, “Maribel told him she was going to go to a party.” This is new information Det. O'connor is working on and wants anyone who might have been at that party to contact authorities.

Still unsolved on the one-year anniversary of Maribel's murder:

“Some evilness took her away from us,” Calonge said. “A family that loved her so much. A lot of friends that loved her so much. And this evilness is still out there.”

Anybody who knows where the girl may have been or who she was with before she died can call 911 or leave an anonymous tip with 99-CRIME.

Over a year now and no break in this case. Seems someone should speak up, she was in a public place, going to a party and had lots of friends per that link above.

No break in this case!!! A thirteen year old murdered and the killer runs free! Above link said she had 4000 fb friends, some posing as teens. I am sure LE has checked into those hopefully. This case doesn't seem to get enough attention . The suspicious jewelry item should get plastered on fliers near where she lived, or last seen.
She never got to go to the 8th grade. Bumping for Maribel.

Still unsolved:

Maribel Gonzalez, 13, told her mother she was going to a friend’s house on June 3, 2014 — three days before her body was found near West Avra Valley Road by a Pima County sheriff’s deputy responding to a call about suspicious activity.

Her mother, Valerie Colange, learned about her daughter’s death while watching the news...

Because of the distance, Colange believes her daughter was driven there by someone she knew — Maribel wouldn’t have gotten into a car with a stranger, her mom says.

I'm kind of surprised this isn't solved due to her activity on social media, and people posing as teens on her facebook. And she was last seen in a public place, telling a friend she was going to a party. Teens talk!!! But it has gone so cold.
Interesting thought about Adrienne Salinas too.

Added....I have looked online on several occasions for that anchor necklace the family and detectives say may be connected. I have seen similar ones, but not the exact one. I hope her posters are still up, with the suspicious jewelry on it. I want it solved, too young.

Bump.

Family is still looking for answers.

"Also there, the parents of Maribel Gonzales, she was 13 when her body was discovered near Avra Valley and Trico Road June 6, 2014.Her father Abrian Gonzales said, “It seems like it’s getting harder every day instead of easier.”
Her mother, Valerie Colangee told news 4 Tucson, “I’m just focused on trying to find this person who did this”"

Detectives searched a desert area on the northwest side Wednesday in search of clues they hope would lead to an arrest in a homicide of a 13-year-old girl in 2014. Detectives recently discovered additional information in the case that led them back Oct. 25 to the desert area where the teen's body was found.

I'm very impressed by the woman who noticed suspicious drag marks and found Maribel under the tyres. Awful for her but thank goodness she was so sharp.
News conference announced for today which seems to be linking her case to that of Isabel Celis. Sounds as if there could be very significant developments.
