Her son told authorities that he dropped her off at the Sears department store entrance at the mall. He stated that he parked his vehicle in the lot, then walked inside the store to locate his mother, but she was nowhere to be found. He reportedly searched for her in the store and adjoining shopping mall for six hours before reporting her missing. An extensive search was conducted in which photos of Mrs. Bowers were shown, but no one in the mall reported having seen her.

None of Bowers' friends in either Mexico or Tucson had heard of her plans to go to Tucson. Her whereabouts remain unknown and her case remains unsolved.

I have the impression that the son knows more than he says... it's like the saying goes... the one who explains things gets complicated... maybe she had some insurance to collect and he was the beneficiary or he was just bored of taking care of his mother... what was their relationship like? Did the son have a wife? It's very strange to leave an elderly person alone like that just like that and then go park the car and have her disappear...
whatever the case
rest in peace
