US: Imprisoned polygamous leader helped plan girls' escape
Just an updated article Warren Jeffs does the same thing. Rule from within prison.
From article
"On one of the calls, Bateman asked the women, who typically reside in Arizona, if they were in "our state," according to prosecutors. They responded that they were not. On another, one of his wives reassured him, "we are helping you." On a third, they discussed changing vehicles. Law enforcement was pursuing them at the time.

Prosecutors accuse Bateman of working with three of the women he says are his wives to "unlawfully seize, confine, inveigle, decoy, kidnap, abduct and carry away" three children and transport them to Washington state."

Samuel Bateman had previously been scheduled to go to trial next month, but a judge granted the postponement Friday after prosecutors said they expect more charges to be filed in the case within the next three months.

Bateman’s trial was moved to March 5, 2024.

He faces federal and state charges in Arizona, including child abuse, obstructing a federal investigation and aiding in kidnapping girls who were placed in the state child welfare agency after his arrest earlier this year. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Federal authorities also have accused Bateman of taking more than 20 wives, including underage girls, though he does not face any charges directly related to that accusation.

Whew!! Looks like Bateman is in a heap o' trouble with the state and with the Feds. We'll see how this goes... Next year. Whatever.
Hoping the young girls are okay, and that they will get good attention from qualified people -- SMH about that. It's all they and the other women and girls know. Such a shame

Bolding mine.
Here's hoping that will change !
Smh, over and over.
Imo.

*I was just coming to post. From your link and thank you:

In June 2021, Bateman took Jane Doe 10, one of his anonymous victims, for a ride to a creek, and as “recorded” by the girl, they “worshiped our God in an unexpressable way” and had “holy sex,” according to the new indictment. She was between 14 and 15 years old at the time, prosecutors say.

Bateman also allegedly took part in “group sexual activity” with at least four anonymous victims — identified only as Jane Doe 3, Jane Doe 4, Jane Doe 7, and Jane Doe 10 — along with his co-defendants Naomi Bistline, Donnae Barlow, and Leia Bistline, who were also his wives and followers.

The illicit encounters took place on at least two occasions — Jan. 1, 2021, and Aug. 27, 2022 — in Colorado City, Arizona, prosecutors say.

The massive indictment against Bateman and his followers lists 11 defendants facing a cumulative 56 charges. Bateman himself faces dozens of charges, a conviction on even one of which could put him behind bars for 30 years. His alleged victims are as young as 9.

**Disgusting Revolting Indictment:

Guilty plea by leader of polygamous sect could be thrown out
from the article:
A guilty plea by the leader of an offshoot polygamous sect near the Arizona-Utah border is at risk of being thrown out due to an unmet condition of his deal that hinged on whether others charged in the case also would plead guilty.

We'll see how this all plays out,

Witness list for FLDS cult trial includes Warren Jeffs, Secret Service

Samuel Bateman pled guilty in April; this upcoming trial is for two of his male accomplices.

The trial of LaDell Bistline Jr. and Torrance Bistline (Bateman accomplices and/or followers) has started and the Tucson Sentinel seems to be the only outlet that is consistently reporting on it.

Donnae Bateman, one of Samuel Bateman's wives, was sentenced to house arrest and probation for obstruction last month.

Remember that "Uncle Warren" is on the witness list. Ain't no way they're gonna haul him out of prison for this. Last I was aware, Warren still has active charges but court proceedings have stopped because of incompetency problems. Wonder where they are on that. He's not getting any younger. MOO.

Incompetency? Oh good grief. He’s incompetent, but he can be a witness in another case? Geez.
