While searching this morning for any type news about Sylar I ran across this. Sad to say I'm from AZ. Glad there is a review team but it takes people stepping up and reporting abuse when they see it too!!

Deadly child abuse cases reach new record in Arizona

snipped

The numbers don't lie. According to the Arizona Child Fatality Review Team's latest report, of the 70 children who died from maltreatment last year, Child Protective Services only knew about 18 of them and had launched investigations into five more. That means, 57 Arizona children were being abused and nobody knew it.

Alerted that Nancy and Tina have a trial date set for late May 2012, trial is expected to last 11 days.

Tina's charges are child neglect in the death of a minor and drug possession. Nancy has drug possession and a charge stating that she knew about the child neglect and did nothing. They are facing a minimum of 30 years if convicted on all charges.

Always check in to see any updates. Glad I checked in.

Sylar Newton case: What the hell???

So a pre-trial hearing took place last week in which motions filed by the defense attorneys for Christina Priem and Nancy Collins were heard. Based on the reports of what took place in that pre-trial hearing I have to just ask…what the hell is going on with this case, or lack thereof?

I can't believe they still have not released him for burial. This is just horrible.

After reading the above link ,I am hoping it is because the want to be able to retest in the event something is not allowed in court?

CAMP VERDE - Hot on the heels of a plea agreement accepted by her co-defendant, Nancy Collins has also taken a plea for her role in the disappearance and death of 2-year-old Sylar Newton in 2010.

I wish that I could say that she has grown a conscience and will suffer for the rest of her life knowing that she was involved in a precious child's death; however, I have doubt that she has yet accepted any responsibility. The only thing that these two are sorry for is getting caught.

Collins faces up to 3.75 years in prison on the child abuse charge, a class 4 felony. She could also be sentenced to lifetime probation.

Priem could be sentenced to as long as 32.5 years in prison, followed by lifetime probation. She will be sentenced on June 4.

:rose: R.I.P. Sylar :rose: You deserved a much longer, much better life little one.

Thanks Dr Know.

From above link:

"I know I was not a good parent," Priem told the court. "I should have taken him to the doctor. I'm sorry for what happened. No time in prison will be worse than what I have already suffered."

She still doesn't get it and they still didn't fess up to how Sylar ended up all that way from the campsite. He did not walk, no way, no how.

As Collins' attorney Michelle Shaw was pleading to the court for five years probation for her client, Shaw said Collins has repeatedly expressed remorse and also is a grandmother who lost her grandson. She has "persevered and overcome ... and is now on a mission to inform and educate others of the dangers."

Owens responded that first, Collins needs to get a handle on her drug problem. She told the court that during phone calls monitored by detention officers, Collins had already been talking about getting a medical marijuana card.

Her sorrow stems from getting caught, not because a 2 year old baby is dead and she did nothing to prevent it!

Finally, there is a date for Sylar's funeral (almost 2 years later to the day.)

Nancy Collins heads to jail

Collins, 59, entered a guilty plea in Flagstaff Municipal Court June 29 for a single count of marijuana possession. A paraphernalia charge was dismissed by the plea agreement. She was sentenced to 24 days in jail plus up to $1,500 in fines. The court allows up to 30 days to get affairs in order, so she has not yet begun the sentence.

Give me a break! THE most selfish woman on earth:
Aug. 31, she asked the court to change her guilty plea to "not guilty" due to being seriously mentally ill. In her filing, she said she contracted MRSA in 2009, had a 106.5 temperatures for several days and was given a 5-percent chance of living, leaving her with permanent brain damage. The case file includes a statement to that conclusion from the Verde Valley Guidance Center.

An Oct. 23 hearing has been set on the defense motion to modify her probation.
