Heather, are you kidding? This is court, not the time to discuss throwing you a baby shower or requesting a new manicure.

"lady, stop trying to murder the court officials with your eyes."

(I go to a walk in massage place where they are all Asian and they always say "lady" which I really like ) :)

For those just learning of this case, please don't believe SWM said anything that caused her own murder. If Tommy didn't do it, then Heather would've found someone else to do it.

Bali suitcase murder: Heather Mack asked boyfriend Tommy Schaefer to hire hitman for $50k on mum
http://www.news.com.au/world/asia/b...n-for-50k-on-mum/story-fnh81fz8-1227185039529

Accused murderers Heather Mack, 19, and Tommy Schaefer, 21, arrived for court hearings on Wednesday in Denpasar, Bali

The pictures alone tell the story. Heather is in control; whereas, Tommy looks like he is sinking fast. Both still wearing their "rings" and both still in this together. But will they both be sentenced equally?

Just want to mention that the man sitting next to HM will be a translator. Her lawyer(s) sit off to the side, behind the carved bench that you can see in the 1st picture. She had to sit by herself in front of the judges .. other than having a translator with her. Same with TS.

In the 2nd pic, she is probably looking over at her lawyer ... "dammit, they know about the text messages - whoops, forgot to mention those to you."

I wonder if anyone found a checklist written by HM, such as:

x Find stupid-thugish-bf (s-t-bf)
x Poison s-t-bf with evil stories about SWM; get s-t-bf to hate SWM
x Get pregnant by s-t-bf or whomever
x Set-up s-t-bf in theft from SWM situation such as CC theft/use
x Plan the evil deed w/s-t-bf making sure s-t-bf is at center stage
x Empty promise s-t-bf: emotional support; future financial support; will wait for him
x Plan future life w/o s-t-bf
_ When released: return to US; tell s-t-bf it's best for lil Stella
_ Permenantely cut ties w/ s-t-bf or maybe the firing squad will do that part

:floorlaugh:

I think she knew she found a winner when he didn't run screaming from her after her request for him to find her a hit man.

Listen lady, how you say you're screwed in your country? :D

It's disappointing that local LE are unlikely to testify on SvWM's behalf. From http://oakpark.chicagotribune.com/2...rs-accused-of-stuffing-moms-body-in-suitcase/
"David Powers, a spokesman for the village of Oak Park, said Indonesian authorities have not requested a member of the police force to testify during the trial about past disturbances."

RSBM: They still may be presenting the multitude of police reports that show HM's violent background. Documents and statements seem to play a big part in their trials - more than witnesses.
Though, having said that, I'm not sure how much background comes into it. Everything I have ever read says that the trial is all about the 'facts of the crime'.

If I understand correctly, defense makes a presentation next week. I wonder if Elkin/Flavia will be making an appearance or if they're going to monitor (and bill) remotely.

I wonder if TS's mother's appearance really shook him up and reminded him of all that he threw away. Apparently Mom's rules were too strict for him to live at home and at 21, he still didn't seem to be able to hold a job and keep a roof over his head - but I bet when he actually laid eyes on his mother, it was a stark reminder of how good he really had it compared to where he is now.

I think he's been told his goose is cooked anyway, so why not take a complete fall for HM? I think he's too terrified to do anything else. At this point, deep down he must realize HM is all about HM, but he has absolutely no one else that can really do anything for him. If it's difficult for Flavia to keep HM supplied in Kerobokan, how much harder will it be for TS to try to find outside support? If you look at the photos from their last two encounters, he appears very fragile, ready to snap, and she seems to be trying to encourage him to hold it together - for her sake, of course.

Just wondering, and apologies if this has been covered earlier and I missed it: do we know if SWM had actually met TS before Bali? Presumably she knew about him because of the hotel party/credit card episode, but had they ever met face-to-face?

And, similarly: do we have any indication whether or not TS's mother had ever laid eyes on HM before the Bali courtroom?

It was reported that HM had switched lawyers yet again before this appearance so I'd have to believe that Elkin is still helping out behind the scenes via the U.S. Consulate? Flavia likely won't make another appearance until the baby's birth. But without a large retainer, neither are going to be racking up big expenses until they are sure they will get some kind of payout from the estate.

I hope that TS was devastated to see his mother, and to understand just how this has also impacted her. I hope if things are not as they seem as far as confessions go that she can knock some sense into him while she's there.

No idea if either of the mothers had met their children's new love interest. I'm going to guess a definite no that TS brought HM home to Mom and a possibly SWM met TS at some point during the great hotel rip off in July prior to the trip. Maybe in a police station? ;)

"David Powers, a spokesman for the village of Oak Park, said Indonesian authorities have not requested a member of the police force to testify during the trial about past disturbances."

From the same article, it was gladdening to see SvWM's good friend stick-up for her...
“I just want to see this thing draw to a close,” Jacobson said. “Sheila von Wiese was my friend for 30 years. I was also a friend to her daughter and tried to help her often. I want to make sure Sheila’s name is not sullied through this process. She was a great lady who did great things for her daughter, and why this happened is one of the great mysteries.”

Doesn't seem like they really have people "testify" in these proceedings but rather have the prosecutor just read out what they've uncovered in their investigation? So perhaps they will produce the documents that the FBI perhaps provided to them but don't need a rep from the U.S. to authenticate them during the trial?Maybe SouthAussie knows more about how that works?

Accused of killing mom in Bali, Chicago teen wants her trust fund to pay for criminal defense http://bit.ly/1AVUxvQ

WTF

And finally...there it is. Michael Elkin HAS been working on this. And the new lawyer in Bali that she just got before the trial is requesting some money. So what do you think her chances are?

I hope she gets absolutely nothing.

A lawyer for Heather Mack filed an emergency motion on Thursday in Cook County court seeking $150,000 from the $1.56 million trust fund overseen by her uncle, William A. Wiese, who is her mother’s brother.

In the motion, Mack contends that her uncle “has not released one penny” to help her pay for her criminal defense. Mack says she has always maintained her innocence and alleges that her boyfriend confessed to the murder.
