Sherris Stringham, 67, was last seen Aug. 25 heading to her rental home in the coastal village of Hopkins in eastern Belize.

Authorities found her home ransacked and later found her green Nissan X-Terra abandoned along a dirt road. The license plates allegedly were taken off.

Authorities in Belize are questioning four people in connection to her disappearance.

This is heartbreaking news. A lady who moved abroad to enjoy her retirement years only to be murdered :( RIP Sherris Stringham. So many expats of different nationalities murdered so far this year. Spaniards have been murdered in Mexico, Costa Rica and Venezuela, a retired British couple in Jamaica, an American boy in the Philippines and the list goes on and on...

FOX4's Zac Summers spoke with 67-year-old Sherris Stringham's son, who said Stringham was found dead under a bridge overnight Saturday. Police told family that four teenagers were trying to break down a gate outside of her home and she caught them, but she was struck on the head and knocked out.

Don't know if this is a repeat article.

3 charged in death of Missouri woman, 68, living retirement in Belize

Three people have been charged in the death of a 68-year-old Missouri woman who “scraped together all she had," and retired in the Central American nation of Belize, authorities said Monday.

Two men, both 18, and a 16-year-old minor face murder charges after the body of Sherris Stringham was found Friday near a river in Pomona, about 50 miles from the village of Hopkins where she lived, according to the Associated Press.

3 remanded for the murder of Sherris Stringham, 67

The investigation into Stringham’s brutal murder led to Anthony and Wilhelm Nunez, both 18, who are relatives, and a minor, 16 years old, all teenagers of Hopkins, Stann Creek District.

During the weekly police press brief held at the Raccoon Street police Station, ACP Joseph Myvette said that their investigation led to four teenagers, three of whom were taken into custody, but they are yet to arrest the fourth person.
[.....]
The three teenagers cooperated and led police to the area where the body was found, and they were all arrested. Yesterday, the three teenagers were taken to the Dangriga Magistrate’s Court, where the charge of murder was read to them.

No plea was taken and Anthony and Wilhelm Nunez were remanded until October 7, while the minor, 16, was remanded to the Wagner Juvenile Facility at the Kolbe Foundation-managed Belize Central Prison.
