DPP Will Decide.

Latest information to 7News is that, the investigation file examining the shooting death of Superintendent Henry Jemmott has been passed on to the Director of Public Prosecutions, Cheryl Lynn Vidal. She will now decide what charge will be brought against Jasmine Hartin for his death. Reports say Hartin has told police in a statement that it was an accidental shooting.

Social media followers point out that Hartin may have been experienced in firearms as evidenced by this picture taken 9 years ago which was lifted from her Facebook account.

The 32-year-old Canadian mother of two is expected to be represented by senior counsel Godfrey Smith, but he is thought to be only the “local representative” for her actual attorney who is expected to be a British Queens Counsel, according to reports.

You’d think we were reading about two different women. DM has her as 38 and American, with the Gazette, I believe as 32 and Canadian. Anyway, I hope for everyone’s sake that this will not get ugly.

Here’s a video with I think the policeman in charge , he says it’s believed they were drinking together . Also in the video is Mr Jemmotts sister , it’s not her really saying that he went out because they called , just that’s the type of thing he would do . But if you were friends and you go a call to socialise you might go out wouldn’t you ?

Im finding this so bizarre. I don’t know much about drugs , is 0.4 grams of cocaine on her the type of quantity someone would just take on a night out ?

it just seems so odd to be on the end of the pier drinking together especially after curfew. ( I wonder where they got the drinks from ? )

I wonder if she was on a lot of drugs as it says about her being in a confused type state ?

He’s a big guy too to get a gun off when one minute you are drinking . I’m just really amazed at this case , this woman is a multi millionaire & husbands dad a billionaire.

“Reports tonight are that Hardin was found on that pier splattered in the officers blood and that she suggested to first responders that the bullet might have come from a passing boat.”

It will be easy enough to prove if the bullet came from his firearm.

Thanks for this post! The reporting on this case is all over the place...I mean in the reputable sources WS requires us to use. Is she the wife or the ‘girlfriend?’ American or Canadian?

The deceased was reportedly transferred to another island, but was on leave because of “personal issues.” A report today said he was having marital pr0blems.

Was he called out or did they meet accidentally? Why was she down on the dock in the middle of the night, against curfew...and why was he there? Why was he wearing his service revolver if on leave?

They were drinking so someone brought liquor which implies to me an arranged meeting.

The fact that the reporting is so confusing makes me worry that there are different agendas at work.

From reading a few different articles, it sounds like they were friends having a drink on the dock. They were fooling around with his gun, she was giving him a massage, and the gun when off.

If he was depressed about his job or his relationship, does placing a wealthy woman at the scene of his death - perhaps by suicide, perhaps not - guarantee a nice payout for his partner and their many children via lawsuit?

My problem with the massage story is...how do you go from massaging someone to pointing a gun behind their ear? What’s the transition story?

When giving the massage, you don’t have a gun in your hand....your hands are on the other person. What would possess her to pick up a gun, or take it off his person, and point it at him?

Reports say that they were fully clothed. So she was massaging him thru his clothes?

This is one strange story IMO.

Add in the "massage" and the coke she had, yeap there's a back story here, for sure.

I think that’s very much gossip as it wasn’t mentioned by the cop , she refused to talk , I’m not sure she could even be that stupid to say that it came from a boat when his gun was used.

The other thing, we haven’t had it confirmed how friendly they are with each other , we’ve not heard any info from his wife or friends, you’d think the press would have tried to quiz his friends on how they know each other. You’d think they would find someone who would say oh yes they saw each other every few weeks for drinks etc . It still (sorry to sound snobby) seems a very strange mix for anything sexual between the two of them. Also can anyone here imagine massaging one of your friends ?

Hartin's Arraignment Pending

Jasmine Hartin’s arraignment has yet to begin. Police are waiting for the Director of Public Prosecutions to instruct them on what charge should be brought for the shooting death of Superintendent Henry Jemott.

In a statement to police, Hartin has characterized it as an accidental shooting. Because of this explanation it is expected that the charge may be manslaughter.

Regardless of the charge, Police are expected to object to bail, though it is a bailable offence, and Hartin's attorney Godfrey Smith would press the court for it. If the charge is manslaughter that is an indictable offence and and no plea would be taken at the lower Court.

Hartin’s charge is expected today or tomorrow, depending on the requirements of the DPP.

Meanwhile she remains in custody.

THE MEDIA IS REMOVED FROM SAN PEDRO POLICE STATION COMPOUND!

As media reps wait for the arraignment of Jasmine Hartin who has been detained since Friday for the shooting death of Supt. Henry Jemmott, they are removed from the compound! We had originally been removed from a waiting area on the second floor and told we could wait near the steps of the building, but minutes ago we were further removed from the area to across the street.

But local media reports now claim she has described the events which lead up to Mr Jemmott’s death.

Ms Hartin reportedly claimed she was giving Mr Jemmott a massage on the pier when he asked her to hand him his service pistol, broadcaster 7 News Belize cite “reliable sources” as claiming.

When she handed him the gun it accidently went off and shot him in the back of the head, the source claimed.

Mr Jemmott’s body was found floating in the sea next to the pier in the town of San Pedro on the east coast of Belize.

Ms Hartin has reportedly claimed that when he was accidentally shot he fell on top of her, attempting to get him off she pushed him and his body fell from the pier into the water, 7 News said sources claimed.

Lord Ashcroft son's partner may have been giving superintendent massage when gun accidentally went off, reports claim

How does a gun not have a safety on ? If she’s handed it to him .

if he’s not lying down (because he fell on top of her) he’s either sitting then she’d be sitting to do his back , or he’s standing and she’s standing to do the massage . How do you shoot him behind his right ear in the head handing a gun back ?

(I’ve tried to look at photos of both of them with other people , she doesn’t look that tall and he looks average height , so it’s not like she’s a 6ft 2 lady & he’s a 5ft 4 gentleman)

Jasmine Hartin, 32 remains in the custody of San Pedro Police, as the Director of Public Prosecution concludes whether she will be charged with murder or manslaughter for the shooting death of Superintendent Henry Jemmott.
This morning at a press conference Police Commissioner Chester Williams confirmed that the investigation into the high-profile incident has concluded and that the file has been sent to the office of the DPP for her input. It was expected that Hartin would have been arraigned sometime this morning, however, the media has been camped outside the San Pedro Police Station since early this morning, but there have not been any signs of Hartin nor her attorneys.
Earlier today Williams also confirmed that a post mortem examination conducted on Jemmott's body concluded that the injury was not consistent with suicide and that he had been shot by someone.
Hartin has also given police a statement in which she allegedly confessed that she had shot Jemmott but that it had been an accident. Hartin claimed that she was giving Jemmott a shoulder massage when he asked her to hand him his firearm and as she was in the process of doing that the firearm went off and shot Jemmott to the back of his right ear.
