Baby Doe had played among the pines and oaks of New England; she was dusted with traces of privet hedges and cedar-of-Lebanon, which are not native but are often planted in the suburbs. The soot mixed in with the pollen told investigators her surroundings were urban. Somewhere near Boston, they concluded."

Prior testing of pollen samples recovered from the trash bag the girl was found in suggest she spent time in the Greater Boston area prior to her death. The girl's body did not show signs of advanced composition, suggesting that she died in the area rather than at a distant location.

Memorial mass held on Beacon Hill for Baby Doe

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A memorial mass was held on Beacon Hill Wednesday to remember a little girl we have come to know as Baby Doe.

The state's most powerful political leaders, including the house speaker, governor and attorney general attended the service at the Paulist Center on Park Street.

Last month the remains of the child were found in a trash bag on Deer Island. Her identity is still a mystery.

"All of us are trying to find some solace, and I think today we did that," House Speaker Robert Deleo told FOX25.

His office organized the mass because he wanted to do something to show she is remembered.

BOSTON —The young girl the world came to know as "Baby Doe" has been identified, 5 Investigates Kathy Curran reported Friday.

A suspect was in custody after a search warrant was executed at a Boston home Thursday, 5 Investigates reported.

The identity of the toddler was not immediately released, but 5 Investigates reported she was from Boston.

The young girl’s body was found inside a trash bag by a woman who was walking her dog on Deer Island on June 25.

There was no immediate word on the cause of her death or the charges the suspect faces.

The three month-long search to determine the identity of Baby Doe ended Thursday when someone close to the child&#8217;s family reached out to police, according to law enforcement.


Officials say the tipster had noticed the child was missing, but each time person asked the Bella&#8217;s parents what happened, they replied that she had been taken away by the Department of Children and Families.
