Black Friday/Cyber Monday-How's it going in your neck of the woods?

I got to the stores about 5 pm yesterday. When I got there most stores were pretty quiet, short lines at Best Buy and Toys R Us. But by 6 pm the lines were getting longer and the stores more crowded.

I was at Walmart to get an X Box, got in line about 7 pm, played cards and talked with the other people in line until 10 pm when I got the X Box. Someone had stolen my cart so had to go right out to put it into the car. Couldn't get back in because the store was so crowded.

Went to Toy R Us and it was after their door busters. The checkout line began at the entrance doors, went to the back of the store, along the back and up the other side. I decided I didn't need anything in there that bad. The mall wasn't as crowded. 2 am we went to the only food place that was open. Steak and shake. Took us 2 hours there, between the line to get in and the wait to get our food. 5:00 am found me at Target well after their doorbusters and they weren't crowded at all. There was a heavy police presence at Walmart, Toys R Us and the Mall.

All together I am almost done with my my Christmas shopping, the people I ran into were in good moods, no problems no issues. And as I said while waiting in line we played cards. So I had a pretty good time.
I finally ventured out in the afternoon. First went to CVS and Office Depot- virtually nobody at those stores. Then went to the mall. It was a zoo. Got a pair of shoes, but skipped the Penney's Gift card and the pretzels we were going to buy. About 3PM we hit Toys R Us. They were still giving the sales prices, although the aisles were a disaster area. We still found some very good deals and got most of the shopping done for the little nieces and nephews- found a $40 wooden guitar on sale for $4 all because one string was broken and the box was a little beat up. Took it home and my husband changed the string and tuned it- he didn't want to stop playing it!!!
No reason to go out for sales between midnight and 4am here!

You will never catch me participating in Black Friday. There just isn't anything I want that bad. I went one year and discovered that if it's a really good deal there will only be 1-3 of that item and thousands more savvy at getting to them. Everything else is no more of a deal than any other day. I value my sanity too much.

I've never shopped online on Cyber Monday. Are these "deals" extended to Canadians as well? Just wondering.

Mind you, shipping costs will probably be expensive and then there's duty fees...and taxes and.....

Do they have anything for free? :floorlaugh:

I have just finished all of my Christmas shopping! I got gift cards yesterday for some people on my list because that is what they want. So as not to pay for shipping twice, the rest of the gifts had the option of gift wrapping, so the gifts will be sent from the store.

Since I have gotten older, the crowds at the malls and stores is something I avoid.

I still send out Christmas cards through the mail, so that is for later!

Good luck to everyone with Cyber Monday, and thanks for the links!

I wouldn't mind an IPAD. Where can I get one for really cheap? :sigh:

I sure hope they charge her with assault! I had previously read that she did it more than once to gain an advantage in line!!!:mad::mad:

I agree LinasK - she should be charged with multiple counts of assault, at the very least! It really chaps my hide the way the police are being so casual about seeking charges and won't even reveal her identity. She's proven herself to be a threat to public safety, so what's the hold up?

I don't know a thing about Ipads, so I won't be able to help.

Have you done a Google shopping search?
