LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The report of a missing woman at Lake Mead has taken an unusual turn. The National Park Service released photos Friday morning of the woman who was reported to be missing after falling off of a jet ski on Thursday morning.

According to a National Park Service news release, special agents with the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch are now looking to identify the woman and seeking information from the public about her. She is described as a Boulder City woman and only known as “Lily.”

She was reported missing Thursday around 6:15 a.m. after The Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communication Center received an emergency call that two people fell off a jet ski near Lake Mead’s Boulder Islands, near Hemenway Harbor. Park rangers said the man on the jet ski was rescued but the woman hadn’t been seen since she went into the water. Neither were wearing life jackets.

The woman is described as being 22 years old, with long brown hair dyed red, around 5’2″, and between 110 to 120 pounds. She was wearing black yoga pants and a white shirt. There is a tattoo on her left forearm of a “Captain’s Wheel.”

The news release states: “You don’t have to tell us who you are, but please tell us what you know.”

Okay this is definitely strange. So, if I’m understanding correctly - she was initially reported missing Thursday morning after falling off a jet ski while not wearing life jackets. Man was rescued, she wasn’t seen again. Seems unfortunately rather cut and dry as to what happened, I would think?

But now they are seeking more info about her?

Thoughts/questions:
  • does the man not know who she is? Or is he withholding information for some reason?
  • why were they jet skiing at 6:15am? Is this common at Lake mead? I know sometimes at our lake, my family goes water skiing early in the morning to avoid choppy waters, so maybe this is why, but maybe someone closeby can shed some light on this
  • Are they hoping for her family to come forward by putting this info out, maybe wondering why no one else has reported her missing? But wouldn’t the rescued man inform any loved ones about the accident?
  • why do we (and LE? and jet ski partner?) only know her first name? They state she’s from Boulder City so they know that but not last name?
  • Who called in the accident/who witnessed it?
Clearly there is so much more to this story. Very bizarre.

For reference- “The incident happened near Lake Mead’s Boulder Islands, directly across from a personal watercraft beach, authorities said.” Source

Here’s the area as best as I can tell from the descriptions in MSM. Appears to not be too far from an RV village and campgrounds, as well as the Ranger Station.

Yes, I have the same questions.

All I can think of is maybe the guy had just met her, maybe the previous night? Maybe they Are camping ner each other, or met at a bar?

They are partying together, so he just knows she is visiting from Boulder City, she is 22, and she goes by Lily?

So they party hard all night , maybe drinking and perhaps getting high, and watch the sun rise. Then, still wearing street clothes, they have the brilliant idea to take out the jet skis?

If they are wearing street clothes, not wearing life jackets, and are going out on jet skis at sunrise, I'm guessing they have been drinking/drugging for the past several hours.

He may have met her at a casino the night before and invited her to come back and party at his campsite, cabin, motel, boat deck, etc?

ETA:
Hoover Dam Casino looks to be very close by---about 7 minute drive?

Oh yes. That definitely makes sense as a plausible explanation for the bizarre nature of shareable info. Good thoughts.

The National Park Service says these convenience store surveillance camera photos show a woman reported missing about 6:15 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2022, after falling off a personal watercraft at Lake Mead.

The clothing in the photo matches the description of last seen clothing. So when was she at the store?

The quote you just posted is poorly worded and sounds like she was seen after she fell off the jet ski. What they really mean is that she was reported missing after she fell off. According to this much more clearly worded info, she was seen on the video before she fell of the jet ski but they don’t say what time.

But that girl is at least 30 and not from Boulder City. Of course she could have lied to that guy about her age and where she lives, if she was with him. In any case, I hope NPS reads the FB comments.
Her grandmother is posting the missing posters and seems quite frightened. So I do think it is Lily's Facebook page because it is linked to Grandmother's.

When you create a FB account, you have to be a certain age, so it’s quite common for younger people to list their date of birth as however many years earlier than reality in order to “be old enough” for their own account. So it’s at least possible that she’s 22, yet used an earlier year for her DOB however many years ago when she originally created the account.

Her grandmother was on Facebook asking people to share the missing posters. I went to grandmothers FB page and found Lily's FB.
On Grandmothers page there is a photo from 10 years ago labeled 'me, my daughter and granddaughter'---and it looks exactly like Lily in that photo.

I am pretty sure that is Lily's FB. Grandma posted a missing photo which says Lily is 22.

I think the picture of Lily in her FB looks just like the cctv in the convenience store. And the tattoo on her inner arm looks to be the same.

Even though it says she lives in Missourri, she has 'recently visited' Las Vegas 3 months ago. And her grandmother has a lot of FB friends from Nevada area as well. So I think Lily's mother might live in Boulder City area?

Yes, I missed her grandma’s post when I was looking at the National Park Service FB page. I agree that it’s Lily’s FB page.
