"York Region police have released security video of a man appearing to sexually assault a woman while she mows her lawn.

Police say it happened Saturday around 3:30 p.m. near Bayview Avenue and Wellington Street East in Aurora.

The video shows a man sneak up behind a woman as she’s cutting her grass. The man pulls his shorts down and pulls the woman towards him."

The woman turns and pushes him away. They briefly exchange words before the man walks away.

He’s described as a white man with short, sandy-brown hair and a medium build. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.

Strangely enough, in Toronto two men who were each shoveling snow this past Winter, were each sexually assaulted by a man.
Have not seen an update to that story and was surprised to see this one!

York Regional Police is seeking public assistance to identify a suspect in connection with a sexual assault in the Town of Aurora. On Saturday, August 11, 2018, York Regional Police responded to an address on Stone Road which is in the area of Bayview Avenue and Wellington Road for a report of a sexual assault. Officers learned that at approximately 3:30 p.m., a 47-year-old woman was outside mowing her front lawn when suddenly a male suspect ran up behind her, lowered his shorts and grabbed her, pulling her towards him. The victim turned and confronted the suspect. The suspect fled on foot. Investigators are releasing images and video of the suspect and are seeking public assistance in identifying him. We are also appealing to any witnesses in the area at the time of the incident to please come forward. Anyone with video surveillance in the area is asked to contact police. “Multiple tips and information from members of the community” quickly led to a suspect being identified and arrested around 6:45 p.m. that day, police announced late Friday morning.

A 23-year-old Aurora man is charged with sexual assault. Police say that “due to circumstances associated to the accused, his identity is not being released.”

Children are a possibility but, Aurora (or parts of it) is considered somewhat of an affluent area. It would be a real pizz-off imo to find later that the failure to release the perp's name is due to his parents considered 'affluent' or 'influential'.

That's going to point to two sets of judicial rules. Better for LE to come clean at this point on why the name will not be released by them. Jmo.

Regardless of how this perp is wired, LE normally publishes the name and pic of anyone accused of a SA on strangers or has multiple accusers. By doing so, they give other victims an opportunity to come forward - victims who might have been to upset or frightened prior to the arrest.

This is not sitting right with me as LE is giving the appearance of not being proactive in finding other victims of this perp - where is the invitation for other possible victims to come forward?
