Memorial grows as community shares memories of doctor killed in SC mass shooting

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A mass shooting on Wednesday evening left five people -- including a prominent doctor in York County and two children -- dead.

The York County coroner’s office said Dr. Robert Lesslie, 70, and his wife, Barbara Lesslie, 69, were pronounced dead at the scene along with grandchildren Adah Lesslie, 9, and Noah Lesslie, 5.

A fifth victim, James Lewis, 38, from Gastonia, was found dead outside. Authorities said he had been working at the Lesslie’s home when he was shot. Lewis’s co-worker, Robert Shook, was also shot and was taken to a Charlotte hospital with critical injuries.

Judge denies release for 'Fatal Vision' killer during pandemic

RALEIGH, N.C. — A federal judge on Friday denied a "compassionate release" request filed on behalf of 77-year-old Jeffrey MacDonald, who is serving life prison sentences for the 1970 murders of his pregnant wife and two young children at Fort Bragg.

MacDonald's lawyers had asked that he be released from federal prison due to his deteriorating health during the coronavirus pandemic.

"He’s very near to the end of his life," attorney Elliot Abrams told U.S. District Judge Terrence Boyle in arguments last month.

After Guilty Plea, Jake Wagner Faces Life Without Parole And Without The Daughter He Killed For

Wagner, now 28, on Thursday pleaded guilty to eight counts of first-degree murder and 15 lesser charges on the anniversary of the methodically calculated and cold murders of his daughter's mother, Hanna Rhoden, both her siblings, her parents, an uncle, a cousin and a soon-to-be sister-in-law. They were all found shot to death in four trailers in Pike County.

Wagner admitted he personally killed five of the eight members of the family. It was not disclosed, however, if he fatally shot Hanna -- who died with a four-day old newborn at her side.

The surprise change in his plea on the five-year anniversary of Ohio's most complex crime investigation and one that initially stymied investigators, means he saved himself, his parents and older brother from the potential of the death penalty by admitting his role in the mass murder by agreeing to testify in their future trials.

A woman was found dead after an apparent bear attack in Colorado

"The woman, a Durango resident, was believed to have gone walking with her two dogs earlier Friday...[snip] The boyfriend had last heard from the woman that morning, and when he returned home around 8:30 p.m., he "discovered the two dogs outside of their home, but the woman was missing,"...[snip] "He started searching for her and discovered her body around 9:30 p.m." ... Cahokia man accused of going to the Philippines to engage in sexual acts with 14yo girl

According to the United State's Attorney's Office, Joseph Albert Fuchs, III, 53, went to the Philippines in February 2018 to have sex with a girl, knowing she's under the age of 16. The indictment alleges that Fuchs talked to the girl through Facebook chats from November 2017 to July 2019 and he's sent her more than $1,000 through PayPal and Xoom payments.

“Officers contacted James Chadwell, the resident, and a search was performed of the home. Police said the girl was found in the home with visible signs of injuries. She was taken to the hospital.”

El Dorado, Kan. — Frazier Glenn Cross, Jr. died Monday, May 3, 2021, while in the El Dorado Correctional Facility near Wichita.

Cross was convicted in 2015, on capital murder, attempted murder, assault, and other related crimes after a shooting spree killed three people on the Jewish Community Center Campus.

It’s believed that Cross died of natural causes, but an autopsy is planned.
