While people are speculating it could be a woman who went missing from that area in December 2014

A Nevada County family has achieved some much-needed closure, after their sister — first reported missing in 1996 — was found to have been killed in a traffic accident in 1993 and buried as a Jane Doe in Texas.

The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office took the missing persons report on Pamela Louise Bandy in November 1996, said Sgt. Bob Jakobs.

Investigators searching for three inmates who escaped from an Orange County jail are pursuing promising tips, but have yet to locate the “very dangerous” fugitives, Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens said Sunday.

The U.S. Marshals Service has kicked in an additional $30,000 in addition to the $20,000 already offered by the FBI for information leading to the re-arrest of Hossein Nayeri, Jonathan Tieu and Bac Duong.

The three were awaiting trial for violent felonies, including a killing, when they managed to break out of the Central Jail Complex in Santa Ana.

Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock said at an afternoon news conference that authorities have narrowed down the time of the escape: They believe it happened after Friday's 5 a.m. head count.

(CNN)The Indianapolis office of the FBI is helping in the search for Lauren Spierer, a college student who went missing nearly five years ago.

The FBI and the Bloomington Police Department confirmed Thursday that the federal agency was assisting at a location in Morgan County, about 30 miles north of the college town.

CNN affiliates WISH and WRTV reported that the FBI and local authorities searched a home in Martinsville.
WRTV cameras captured authorities and K-9 units working near a house and another wooden building on the property. A pickup truck was also seen being towed away.

Hundreds gather to mourn the death of loyal K-9 dog, Ogar, who was 'shot in the line of duty by a man who ran from a traffic stop'
The K-9, Ogar, was working with his handler, Deputy Constable Kevin Petty, when Petty pulled over a man during a traffic stop on I-20 West, according to KLTV.
During the stop, the suspect, later identified as Michael Paul Koch, 35, fled the car and into the woods.
Ogar dashed after him. Within a few minutes, Petty heard the sounds of gun shots.

At his funeral, he was given a video tribute, a flag presentation, and Kevin's wife, Laura, read a poem. Bagpipes played the traditional last call, as is done with any service member who dies in the line of duty.

Joran van der Sloot to talk in exchange for a transfer

Van der Sloot therefore wants to leave the Peruvian prison. And you can. The Netherlands has a treaty with Peru for two years that the transfer of criminal sentences makes it possible. Van der Sloot will therefore throw a deal. He promises to tell the truth about the disappearance of Natalee Holloway

Apparently by the google translate I can decipher, Peru has new legislation that he cannot apply for early release and must stay in prison for another 22 years. So he's trying to strike a deal, full disclosure about Natallee for a transfer to prison in the Netherlands. This was supposed to have been an Associated Press interview but I cannot find any news of this in English Media. There are several links from media in the Netherlands. I believe he just spoke with AP today so the story is coming?
