I'm so sad to hear this news. Nothing has come to a resolution and they feel the need to close this site? Not quite sure what they are thinking. Please rethink your decision. This in my opinion would be a huge mistake. Keep this site open until we bring Kyron home! I still believe that Kyron is alive and he will be brought home soon...MHO. I do want to thank this site for everything that has been brought out about this very sad case. I live in Oregon and I feel a special attachment to Kyron and his family.

This really breaks my heart. There's still a little 7 year old who needs to be brought home, and to read the words:

Also, we will be taking this site down at the end of the week. We feel we have been remiss at keeping it updated and really have no further plans to do anything more in terms of events or anything like bracelets, buttons, etc. We continue to hold out hope, but feel this website has ultimately served its purpose.

What purpose?
Did you find Kyron?
Too lazy or uninterested in keeping the site up?
Is money an issue?

My goodness, even Laci Peterson's web site is still up. http://www.lacipeterson.com/

I just don't understand all of this.

Mel

This leaves plenty of room for independent volunteers to create a site for Kyron, unless LE/the site knows something we all don't know?

I would be MORE than happy to put up a simple site for Kyron. (Regardless of the outcome of this case.) I have plenty of pictures of frogs and squirrels and cars that he would love. :)

I would not really know what to put on it, but as long as others would give me some input on that I would have no problem doing one. I'd finally feel like I was doing something.

That is just weird. Their website is just a piece of the mobile me site through Mac. Probably a free site. Not much maintance to do on it. Websites are not that hard to build. I guess it was ok to tell everyone it is being taken down...probably not what I would have done. Just take it down- don't say anything.

I would have left it up with the pictures, and a note to bring him home. I would not give up hope.

Something is very wrong here. Am I the only one that thinks it is weird to take it down unless Kyron has been found? Otherwise what was the purpose of making flyers, bracelets, and the site for support? This is a goodwill website and like everyone has said the more pictures and news you get out about Kyron the better chance he has of being found.

I suspect we are going to find out something at the press conference tomorrow.

Laci Peterson's site is a nice memorial for Laci and Connor. Caylee has numerous memorial websites. I don't see why Kyron's website can't just say "please find him" until he is found, and thereafter, if need be, serve as a memorial site for him, or even a celebration site if he is found okay. Maybe they were requested to take it down. Maybe the people just don't have enough information to keep updating. No matter, a simple site with his pictures and a short bio would be nice, with contact information on the bottom. It just seems sudden to take it down. It could at least serve as a reminder of a lost child.

Thanks to the original poster who brought this here.

Always questions.

I have seen places where sites have "banners' you can download and include on your own FB or other social networking site. I wish they (or someone) would make a banner we could all download and put on our own FB pages.
Does anybody know how to do this? I just posted "Bring Kyron Horman Home" on my FB site. I didn't know what else to do.
The banners I am talking about move across the top of your site, like an amber alert banner does.

I do think it is very strange. Why not leave it up? If nothing else but to show continued support for Kyron and his family. Taking it down, to me, indicates that they are no longer supporting Kyron and his family. It would not require maintenance to keep it up. Why are they seemingly giving up so soon? Very sad!

I remember a poster did that for a case not too long ago, on MySpace - just a description of the case, and a good photo of Kyron and contact info would be all that is needed. Oh, and also a big disclaimer clearly stating you are not with the family or LE, but just a concerned person who cares for Kyron.

Though - does anyone know if this is in violation of the TOS, etc? I don't think so, but if you do think so, please give a holler.

This is a good thing to do as so many missing persons have sites on there, and it's good to grow a network in that crowd to spread the word, esp is this case goes cold.

I'd say, wait to see what the presser says today and then go ahead, if you want. I would certainly "friend" Kyron.

There really does need to be a profile site out there, at the very least. MOO.

They kept it quiet when they dug for Brooke Willburger...

I've been down for a week or so since I heard a bit of info from someone friends with a LE in Portland. Even tho it is rumor until proven, it still stung my heart and made me pull away a bit, although I did gear back up at one point. With the announcement of the divorce along with RO this week - well? I guess I am

Things that make you go, "hmmmmmmm!"

I agree completely. I also could not figure out why the site couldn't just stay up since they didn't have to monitor comments or anything. When they announced they were taking it down I wondered if they know something we don't about what might have happened to Kyron??

I'm not expecting much from this so called "news conference" though. They've kept everything so close that I doubt we'll get a big bombshell...but who knows?

Maybe the folks that put the website up were worried they would get sucked in and their information/motivations etc would be questioned. They said they had small children. Maybe they were afraid of becoming involved and exposing their children?

I think this is a good theory. They likely didn't expect the case to go on so long or be so explosive, which is why it seems they used their family name connected to it. I would certainly understand them wanting to step away from all that.

Though why not start another, fresh one just to keep up, I wonder?

Things I've noticed:

Website closing down.

Website owned/managed by long-time personal friends of Kaine's.

Any remaining donated funds to go to official fund @ bank - and THOSE monies go to Sherriff's office.

Any questions about Kyron product go directly to Kaine, who has the product.

Any donations received in the past week will be faithfully passed on to the “Kyron Horman Fund” through Bank of America which will help the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office in their continued investigation.

Thoughts - specualtion - IMO's:

Friend with website honoring Kaine's wishes.

For whatever reason (perhaps he has based his decision on LE investigative information) Kaine think it's best to close this donation website - notifies friend they won't need to produce further t-shirts, bracelets, vigils, etc.

Can't really take donations ongoing without making some sort of non-profit / tax accounting decisions.

Kaine directs donations received but unspent to the Sherriff's office.

Website owner perhaps simply honoring Kaine's wishes about what to do with a donations and a website for a cause that no longer needs donations. :(

Family is able and prefers to run any such Kyron website in the future themselves, knowing that no one else would be burdened to provide updates, etc. long term, and that as family, they want that burden... (more speculation, but this family could likely do this themselves, should they choose to.)

Wondering if we might see more Kyron sites come down - especially the ones with open comments...

Kaine has legal counsel...will be following advice.

My thoughts on this are that whatever info LE briefed family on recently has confirmed Kyron is deceased due to whatever "evidence" was collected from maybe the truck or SI.

That is BIG.

Oh my goodness, I have found a better picture of the red tree frog exhibit and this pic doesn't even come close to it. Did TH or another family member upload this picture as the picture taken at the school?

KH is the only child in the picture I am looking at and the background of the picture is nothing like the one above.

The pic at that link is the pic of another child with his project. For safety reasons his face is not shown.

You're right, on TH facebook page she has a picture of another student as well in front of a red eyed tree frog exhibit.

The red tree frog exhibits are totally different.:waitasec:

This pic in the link above is not the same as the exhibit that K is standing in front of in another pic.
