This didn't make me more accepting at all, I feel as the earlier post says, this is just tacky and an exercise in narcissism.

Now that she's done "shocking" people, perhaps she can quietly go about the rest of her life. I'm also still confused because we're calling her "she" because "she" now says we should, but "she" still has male genitalia. This kind of limits her partners, because a lesbian or a straight man certainly wouldn't be able to ignore that, and a straight woman or gay man likely isn't interested in someone who appears as a woman.

What I'm afraid will happen is she will end up with someone who fetishizes her, which I find sad.

I don't know why anyone even cares what genitalia Caitlyn has or doesn't have, or why anyone thinks it's anyone's business but Caitlyn's own.

Bruce wanted to become Caitlyn. More power to her. Everyone should live however they want to live, as long as they're not harming others. Caitlyn looks very happy and very attractive.

I do have concerns about the transgender young children I've seen in the news lately. I'm not at all sure that a child of 6 or 8 or 10 can really know what gender he or she is going to be when older. I mostly hope that these transgender children aren't having anything permanent done to their bodies until they're old enough to fully understand the permanent ramifications of such decisions.

OTOH, I have a very close relative who is transgender, FTM. If there were ever a male mistakenly born with female anatomy and genetics, he was it. By third grade (possibly younger, but for sure by third grade), he could have made the permanent decision to be a male, and I'm quite sure he would never have regretted it. So I understand that even very young children can and do have a sense of self that differs from their genetics, and part of me thinks that in those cases, the sooner the decision is made, so that the child can grow up being who they really are, the better off they'll be.

So, call me conflicted on the young children. But for adults? Whatever you want to be.

While I find it as confusing as anyone else, transgender isn't nearly so weird as those people that think they're animals. People have their tongues surgically forked or horns implanted in their foreheads or their teeth filed into fangs or other weird things done. Gaaah! Makes my head hurt.

well you notice they didn't pick one of either of his first two wives.......they have treated him with dignity and respect.......this one has not, he even said so himself in the utube linked upthread......when they got into it, he told her that she had treated him not so great for the last four or five years........so are we surprised that SHE is the one in the picture......i'm not..........she's not exactly known for her humongous heart and kind nature........you reap what you sow........

The other two divorced him as well, and it sounds it was largely due to the same reason Kris divorced him.

In watching the two Kardashian episodes "About Bruce" he made it very clear that he wasn't interested in dating once he had transitioned to female. All the questions from the kids about his sexual orientation and attractions post-transition were clearly not as important to Bruce as they were to the kids. It must be confusing all the way around.

As far as still having the male genitalia, who cares if he does or doesn't? If Caitlyn Jenner wants to be seen and treated and live life as a woman, then IMO it's nobody's business what's left and what isn't. It's not all that rare for babies to be born with indeterminate genitalia, or some vestiges of both male and female genitalia. In those cases many doctors (even as recently as in the mid 20th century) would arbitrarily "assign" a gender for the birth certificate. I think this also would calm some new parents, if an authority figure like a doctor was making the determination. But that assignment at birth doesn't necessarily mean that's what that child will grow up to feel about themselves inside. I'm not saying this is the case with Bruce when he was born, just using it as an example of the fluidity of these issues as we become a more enlightened society.

To be honest, it bothers me that she is claiming womanhood and isn't a woman. I'm a woman. Caitlyn Jenner is not a woman.

There is no "fluidity" here, that is a load of crap that's being floated around in order to normalize that notion. Sexuality and gender IMO are not fluid. Just no. There are misguided people, there are people who have no self-awareness, yes--but I'm not buying the fluidity myth.

I'm not sure what could be a more fluid situation than a man who has biologically fathered six children and yet has always felt trapped in the wrong (gender) body. It really bothers me that in some people's eyes those feelings are not valid.
