A woman who has been missing for over two weeks has been found dead in south Bakersfield, foul play is not suspected.

According to officials with the Bakersfield Police Department, Anna Baker, 68, was reported missing in the 200 block of Clyde Street on July 17.

Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Watts Drive on Wednesday, July 31 around 10:45 a.m. regarding a body. The body was later identified to be Baker.

The family’s questions are mounting after the family said they learned from the coroner Monday that Baker was found in a rug near a ditch.

“To me that’s kind of remorse, someone who cared for her because if that was someone who wanted to dump her, they would have just threw her out the truck and just kept going,” said Ryashia Madkins.

Now the family is on a quest to understand what happened to Anna Baker and why the family had to learn about her finding from news outlets and social media rather than the police.
