As is often the case with L.A. County UID's the NamUs casefile is pretty scant.

But she is the right age, is Asian, and went missing a little less than 4 years prior.

And West Covina is right at the foot of San Gabriel Canyon Road (Hwy 39). That would be the closest unpopulated place to dump a body if you were in West Covina.

According to NamUs there are dentals for Janice Lo.
 
It looks like NAMPN has the wrong Date LKA for Janice.

She was LKA on 12-Nov-1996. They have it as 12-Nov-2001. It appears that they incorrectly took it from the following 12-Nov-2001 article commemorating the 5-year anniversary of her disappearance

So if this UID is Janice, she would have been missing 9 years when found. That is still not implausible, as this is only a partial skull.

I was searching Janice Chai Hsi Lo regarding another UID and found this thread. I sent Janice in as a potential match for this UID (potential post-mortem image warning, or could be computer-generated):

Both cases have dentals so it should be easy for Janice to be added to the rule-outs to narrow things down. The distance and time of death are negatives and the only thing I was going on were the left cheeks that both seem to jut out quite a bit.
 
With no update on sex or PMI of the remains, putting some other male Asian MP from CA out there. I cannot see the R/O list in Namus, so apologies if some have already been excluded by LE.

I don’t mind at all! I had intended to post lists on several threads but as is usually the case, I ended up down a rabbit hole... :confused: ;)

There are no exclusions listed on this one... still not much of anything listed actually... the “or completely bald” would be the only thing that might make me think male...but there are countless reasons to explain the lack of hair. I saw an Asian male the other day who had either recently been added to NamUs or recently updated. Of course I can’t think of the name, but I’m sure he was from CA. I’ll look around my recent searches and see if I can locate him again...

Okay I emailed the Namus contact since there was no email listed for the LA Medical Examiner/Coroner (Betsy Magdaleno). Asked if sex is now known.
 
Per the post above, I never got a response from the Namus contact on gender and the Namus file hasn't had any updates in close to 2 years. No ruleouts are listed.

Looking at the case again, Namus says these were Partial remains with soft tissues What timeframe for a potential PMI would we then be looking at? 1 year, 5 years? Anyone have an idea?

If we narrowed down the above MP list to 5 years (ie: 2000-2005) then we have far fewer candidates.
