Closing arguments began Monday morning. Prosecutors Eric Smith and Melanie Ayala are expected to explain how Queen earned a reputation as a “boogeyman” and should be found guilty of numerous crimes including torture and first-degree murder.

Queen Found Guilty of Second Degree Murder

Matthew Queen has been acquitted of first-degree murder but was found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of "Bakersfield 3" member Micah Holsonbake today in court.

Jurors found Queen guilty of:

• Second-degree murder
• Threaten with intent to terrorize Megan Farmer
• Assault with a semi-automatic firearm with Farmer
• Burglary in first-degree of Caleb Seiler
• Kidnapping Seiler
• Threatening with intent to terrorize Megan Farmer
• Obstructing or resisting a peace officer or emergency medical technician
• Five counts of possession of a firearm by felon
• Three counts of manufacturing, distributing or transferring assault weapons
• Three counts of possession of ammunition by a person prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm
• Three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon
• Three counts of possession of an assault rifle

Matthew Queen, convicted in Bakersfield 3 trial, denies murder

Matthew Queen is haunted by the death of a Bakersfield 3 member, he said Wednesday in an exclusive jailhouse interview with The Californian.

Queen was sentenced June 7 to 30 years to life, plus 56 years in prison after being convicted of second-degree murder in the March 2018 death of Holsonbake. Queen said Wednesday he was wrongly convicted and added that the Kern County District Attorney’s Office overzealously charged him.

“I didn’t kill him, but I did help get rid of his body,” Queen said Wednesday from inside Lerdo Justice Facility. “If that makes me guilty, so be it.”
