My comment relates to the CCTV video shown on the Daily Mail website.

At almost 3am, it's strange for someone to stop their car, look at someone injured, bleeding and pleading for help for several seconds, and then drive on. Most drivers, realising there's danger in stopping at all, would either continue driving, or stop and help. I believe the reason is, that was the killer, right there in that car.

Interesting. if so, revenge??

Can we assume LE can get details from this footage?

I wonder if he was able to give any information to the dispatcher to help the investigation during his 911 calls, and surely there must be more video footage than what was released publicly. There’s no shortage of cameras on those streets to record the murderer, during, before, and after.

It looks like a targeted assassination to me. Hopefully, the car can be traced. I'm not sure of motive. Although, money is a huge motive for murder, and the higher the amounts involved, the greater the potential for foulplay.

I also suspect another car seen later in the video, passing the apartment block in the opposite direction, might be involved. It passed quickly, but nearer to where Bob lay outside. Could this have been the same person, maybe driving a different vehicle, or someone else checking the "job was done"?

It’s possible. But you need a lot more evidence, anyone who happens to drive down the street can’t be labeled a murder suspect.

In one of the videos posted above, a kitchen knife was found near the location where the blood trail began. It's not determined (publicly) whether the knife was the weapon. If this was a targeted assassination, I would think the perp would not dispose of the knife in the area. If the perp was in that vehicle, I'd think he take it with him and dump it elsewhere. I also think that if it was a hit particularly from a vehicle, a gun would be used...quicker, and no need to risk leaving the vehicle. For now I am leaning to some crazy drugged up individual who did this....for now.

Me too. Or gang initiation. Sadly, as with most assault/murder vicims, I believe Lee was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I agree that the knife would not have been found if this was a targeted assassination. It was, instead, another assault on people's sense of safety and community, IMO.

He ran up to a car and showed its occupant his stab wounds. The car drove away without helping him at all.
Very sad, this world we find ourselves living in.

imo
A lot of people are afraid to get involved because of fears for their own safety.

Plus, how was the car driver to know that this stabbed man who ran up to his car wasn't a perp himself?

The driver was probably petrified and I don't blame him for driving away.

Has there been any info about where he was going / what doing? Given the time, heading back to his hotel after a night of socializing? JMO speculation
From what I understand, he was in town for a meeting, likely in that area where high tech businesses and people are located and live. He was staying in a hotel in that area. Could be that after meetings, he socialized with these people late into the night before returning to his hotel.

Can you say why you think two stab wounds means he knew the person?

Just curious. I've been assaulted twice in San Francisco, and once in another part of the Bay Area. Not with a knife, with fists/shoving. A kitchen knife is an odd weapon for a targeted attack, IMO. It sounds more like a spontaneous act. At any rate, in one instance I was punched twice (in the chest) by a complete stranger while walking in broad daylight on Market Street, not far from City Hall. If that person had had a knife, you'd conclude he knew me?

I know another woman who had the same thing happen to her. She is a San Franciscan. She asked if the guy who punched me seemed to be with any other guys and I said yes, when I turned around to see where he had gone, I saw him hurry to join up with another man, his own age, dressed similar to him. "Gangs," she said. I have no clue if she's right, but I did learn that punching older women in the chest was something that certain people did to impress their "friends." (That came to me from police). I was in my late 50's at the time. I was with my husband at the time, but due to crowded sidewalk, we were walking single file, but I think the guy knew I had a male companion and did it anyway. I was also told (by police) that I ought not to have looked this guy in the face as we passed each other. I didn't report it to police, but I did have a chance to go to a conference on policing in SF and ask questions a couple of years later.

IMO.
I don’t know why, but I just have a feeling that it was someone he knew. Not angry enough to stab in a fit of range.. unless the knife failed. I suppose I could see <modsnip: referenced info was removed due to no link> being a robbery, but he still had his phone. I’m unsure if he would let a stranger get close to him if he knows SF wasn’t safe enough that he ended up moving.

Here's how I'm looking at this (and I haven't really had a chance to look at any current news).

Some news sites said he had a wife and kids. Another site referred to her as his ex-wife.

If divorced, and he moved away because of the condition he felt SF was in, would he have left his kids? I guess they might be adults now, but for some reason I'm thinking late teens? Again, he left SF because he felt the city was deteriorating, but wasn't concerned about walking alone at almost 3 a.m.? He would've let a stranger get close enough to stab him in the abdomen? Any defense wounds?

Also, looking at the video... what's in his hand that's blocked out? he seems to have his phone and something else.

Maybe dumb thought, but could he have stabbed himself?

Snippets

He was visiting from his Miami home for a MobileCoin leadership summit.

Surveillance footage reviewed by The Standard shows Lee, who had already been stabbed, walking up Main Street away from the Bay Bridge at around 2:30 a.m. Lee crosses the intersection at Harrison Street and walks up to a parked white Camry with its hazard lights flashing.

Lee then lifts his shirt—as if to show the driver his wound and ask for help—and falls to the ground after the car drives away, the footage shows.

Lee’s friend, Bay Area bar entrepreneur Doug Dalton, said Lee was staying at 1 Hotel on the Embarcadero, half a mile from where he was found stabbed

That reminds me of the case of Hugues de la Plaza, happened in San Francisco back in 2007, remains unsolved.

A San Francisco man was found dead in his locked home. Police thought it was suicide, but friends are sure it's murder.

Snip

There, they found de la Plaza, stabbed three times in the chest, neck and abdomen. He was dead.
