No it was not speculation a newsource on the site of the search reporting indicating online that her shoe, sportsbra and panties were recovered. We had only heard shoe and pedometer until that was read online see posts further back in this thread.

It looks like that information linking the items to her has been removed (perhaps due to the arrest and not LE not wanting the details out) but if you google chelsea king shoe sportsbra and panties found you will be directed to this site who broke that information.
 
Just heard on the radio that her mother confirmed it was her underwear during an interview this morning.

I wonder if they think he has sold her? It is kind of strange that he went from a child under 14 to a 17 yr old. sadly most pedo's have a certain age group they are interested in.

I think they are desperate, as any parent in their shoes would be, to believe anything but the tragic and obvious outcome.

The most difficult part of these cases for me is the moment when reality sets in and see these parents heart broken.

I dont think so. Everyone knows how easy it is to leave fingerprints and how easy it is to find DNA. Again, this person didnt just start with Chelsea we know that from his listing on Megan website. I think he lost her belongings as a result of trying to dispose of them quickly. Im sure the only thing on this guys mind was getting the h--- out of there after he did his dirty deed. Remember her parents were in fast pursuit of their missing daughter. Again we dont know the exact time she started her jog or the route she took with her workout. We dont know how much time he took with his victim nor do we know how long it took him to dispose of the body. I think with LE arriving quickly and setting up a perimeter perhaps stopped him from doing any further cleanup of the abduction/rape site.

Interesting, but please keep in mind that this is a BLOG, and not a verified news source that is associated with any established news service, or media outlet. This person has been right about things before, and he has also been WRONG about a number of things in the past.

Sounds like it is indeed suspicion. We're all holding out hope, but I doubt LE would tack that on there unless they have some strong evidence.

I'm sure they're hoping they're wrong as well, but they have a lot more facts than we do.

Is this anywhere near the park? How far have they expanded their search thus far? Did they have particular reason to search this orchard?
 
Just want to confirm that it was on one of our local news reports about the underwear with DNA, and the mud on JAG. Tried to find something written up about the mud, but haven't been able to find anything yet.

Hardly slept last night, and feel like I'm falling apart today. How can her parents hold up much longer...please pray for her folks and her 13 yr old brother. Unbearable.

I agree. I don't want to be a pessimist, but I'm trying to be realistic. If they found Gardner's DNA on Chelsea's underwear (and mom identified the underwear) - that's a very bad sign. IMHO she's with the angels, and this is now a recovery mission.

Ok. I sat down and wrote up my recollections from Feb 14th, and then called an gave info to SD Sheriff's dept. They will call if they need information.

Yes, I agree and when the information was located on the net I believe it was skipped over as non verifiable. It only later had merit. I will say that this thread has had the most up to date information on Chelsea King and alot of thanks should be given to TravelingBug for her updates and valuable information she has provided. Of course there are others who have also provided valuable information as well to this thread. Thanks to all of you.
 
Authorities say there is a strong possibility he is linked to a December attack on a woman on the same jogging path King used and the February 2009 disappearance of 14-year-old Amber DuBois, who vanished on her way to school.

Now they're saying it's a strong possibility he is linked to Amber, as well!

Whether or not he even winds up tied to Amber's disappearance, there are enough similarities that once things calm down a bit with Chelsea's case, the outrage is going to be noteworthy I suspect.

Escondido folks will be furious the response wasn't the same in Amber's case.

RB folks will be furious that he wasn't investigated properly during Amber's case when we know he was an identified RSO on many websites, and wasn't investigated thoroughly enough 13 months ago, potentially avoiding this.

And in both cases that makes Escondido look horrible.

Agreed on all counts. Escondido, unfortunately, was your typical missing teen case where the parents knew something was wrong, but the police were too lazy to do anything about it, preferring to label her a runaway and wash their hands of it. I think there is going to be community outrage, and there really should be. Maybe Amber's parents would have been able to recover her had they actually done their jobs.

I just read an article that stated he is being called a suspect.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that Gardner also is a suspect in a thwarted Dec. 27 attack on a female jogger in the same park, and in the disappearance of 14-year-old Amber Dubois of Escondido, who has been missing since February 2009.

Just saw pictures on the 11am news channel 7 showing the search for Chelsea. It answered my earlier question regarding horses...pictures were shown of mounted searchers on horseback scouring the hillsides.
 
Fox news just did a long segment of live video from a news chopper shot from above the search helicopter. They were scanning the shoreline and "blowing back" the water from just a few feet above and then two searchers were guided toward one specific area on the shoreline. Those two appear to be staying put at that spot and talking on radios to someone else. They have now cut away, but there must be a local news source that was providing the chopper footage, so they may be still on live.
