Debbie Boyd, Wilson’s mother, said Saturday that it’s imperative for the man who bought the wine to come forward and help officials in their investigation. She also called upon locals to help aid in finding her daughter’s remains.

“Everybody in the Auburn area needs to be out looking on their land,” she said. “Even on those areas where it’s heavily brushed or full of poison oak, those are areas where (her murderer) may have put her.”
Sheriff’s Department files new search warrants in case of missing woman

Fox 40 Sacramento news reported this evening that a search had turned up a black sweater on someone's front property Sunday. The owner said the sweater had not been there the previous day. Christie was last seen wearing black. The police took the sweater as potential evidense. The sweater was located in Auburn. There was a foot search done today by family and friends, and locals. They went about 2 miles around the casino and also in Auburn.

Gardenmom,

Thank you for posting that! There hasn't really been too much news on progress. I can't see the video of her b/c I have a Mac and it won't work, can you see her clearly enough to tell if she's wearing a black sweater?

Detectives to Interview Casino Witness in Missing Woman Case

Written for the web by Elizabeth Bishop, Internet News Producer *

Placer County sheriff detectives report a witness they have been looking for in the disappearance of Christie Wilson has come forward. It is the man seen on casino surveillance tape playing blackjack at the same table as Wilson and Mario Garcia.
Detectives said they will interview the individual today.
Also on Sunday, searchers out looking for the 27-year-old woman found a black shirt. Wilson was wearing a black shirt on the night she was last seen.
Wilson and Garcia, 53, were captured on surveillance tape as they left the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln at 1:15 a.m. October 5. Garcia said Wilson went back into the building to retrieve her cell phone and he left the parking lot alone. Surveillance video does not show Wilson going back into the casino and there was no tape of the parking lot.
Investigators consider Garcia a person of interest in Wilson's disappearance. He has been arrested on an unrelated felony weapons charge.
Yesterday more than 70 volunteers, including 40 law enforcement officers from around the state, helped the Boyds search around the casino. They also expanded the search in Auburn near the home of Garcia.
The family is resuming their search this morning.

Chico, did it bother you as much as it did me when the show's host called it "an affair"? Watching the video of the two walking in the parking lot, it appears that she pushed his arm away several times. It didn't look like she was off on a great love affair. I noticed that her mother corrected that.

Hair Found in Car Matches Missing Woman's

Updated: 10/24/2005

The Placer County Sheriff's Department is now treating the disappearance of Christie Wilson as a homicide case and the man considered a "person of interest" in the investigation is a suspect.

Mario Flavio Garcia, 53, is in jail on unrelated weapons charges. He was in court today asking for bail reduction but the judge denied it.

An analysis of hair found in Garcia's car has been confirmed to be a match with Wilson's hair.

Placer County Sheriff's Department spokesman Lt. George Malim said DNA analysis confirmed the finding.

The hair was found in Garcia's white Toyota. Garcia was the last person seen with the 27-year-old Wilson. The two were captured on surveillance tape leaving Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln on October 5 at 1:15 a.m.

Garcia has told investigators that Wilson went back inside the casino to retrieve her cell phone and he left the parking lot alone. Surveillance video does not show Wilson going back into the casino and there was no tape of the parking lot.

Garcia has pleaded not guilty to two counts of illegal weapons possession. He is in Placer County Jail on $1 million bond. The high amount is reportedly due to Garcia's criminal history, concerns that he might be a flight risk and because he is a suspect in the Wilson case.

Garcia is scheduled to appear in court next week for a preliminary hearing on the weapons charges.

In missing persons info & support theres a post/link saying that the hair found in the car was confirmed to be Christies...The links below and it's post #42.

I wonder specifically where the hair was found? Do you think it was in the trunk since LE seems pretty certain it was a homicide? I just wonder if they would come to that conclusion if it was in the passenger seat...although I'm sure they have more info then they are releasing. I guess I'm just too used to LE saying there isn't enough evidence to indicate foul play.

I found an article that has a TON more information, at least I hadn't heard a lot of it til I saw this. I'll post a lil snippet of the article but it's super long so you'll have to check it out at the link.

Wilson, of Sacramento, was last seen on video surveillance tapes leaving the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln around 1 a.m. Oct. 5 with Garcia. She hasn't been heard from since. Although after extensive searches no body has been located, investigators say they are certain Wilson was killed.

"This is a homicide investigation," said Garen Horst, deputy district attorney for Placer County. "He is a suspect."

DNA results confirm that a hair taken from Garcia's white Toyota Camry belonged to Wilson, Lt. George Malim, spokesman for the Placer County Sheriff's Department, said outside the courtroom Monday.

"It was found in such a way to be inconsistent with casual transfer," Malim said. "DNA confirmed it's a positive match.

Additionally, trace evidence from Garcia's trunk has been sent to the Department of Justice crime lab in Sacramento and another hair that could belong to Wilson was located in the Garcia home, officials said.

Marissa, this clinches it for me. Now all they need is her body.

The newsperson mentioned she had on a black outfit, they didn't mention specifically a sweater, just "she was last seen wearing black". They probably did conclude this from the videos of her. Personally I couldn't tell what color she was wearing, but it did appear to be dark. The video of her leaving with hime really does bother me. She looked like she was trying to pull her arm away from him. Like he was trying to put his arm around her and she definately did not want it there. I sure wish that video showed futher into the parking lot. I really hope they find her body soon. There are just so many places around here to hide a body. It's very rural in many places.

I agree 100% It seems they have a lot of people searching for her, and several from LE. This guy shouldn't have been anywhere but locked up, that poor family :-(

Thanks for the description of the video! I wonder if the black top belongs to her....That would be sorta of odd if it did. Didn't they say that the top hadn't been there the day before and the next day it was? And during this time wasn't Mario Garcia already being held? Hmmm this is gonna bug me a lot!

MAn I must be living under a Rock. First I heard of this one was on Nancy tonight. I saw the video and guess what she looked Drunk. She could not walk straight

Nancy had Christie's mom and stepdad on tonight....more at link.

LT. GEORGE MALIM, COMMANDER OF INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION: Well, the only thing we released so far is, obviously, the hair that came back with a DNA match positive to Christie. We have processed the entire car inside and out. And those items, tape lifts and everything else, are trace evidence and things are currently at the lab being evaluated.

GRACE: Where was the hair?

MALIM: The hair was found during -- we`re not releasing exactly where it was, but it was found during the search of his car.

GRACE: In his car.

Lieutenant, isn`t it true that it has been released that the hair was in a location inconsistent with a casual, a coincidental transfer, like, "I hug Debbie Boyd when I see her, and my hair attaches to her lapel." Isn`t it true this hair found in the car is in an inconsistent location with a casual transfer?

MALIM: Correct.

It looked very clean. Maybe it fell out of a teens back pack while walking to school, although... it was found on Sunday. I don't really think it is linked. If I was trying to help this man get rid of evidense I wouldn't fling it in someones front yard. It was found in front of a rural looking road by the mail box. Good animal theory though.

hmmm, I wonder where the hair was found. Very interesting.
I'm thinking trunk. Maybe he ran her over, then it could have been in a tire, or stuck in the bumper.

When I watched the video, it looked like the guy had his arm wrapped in hers. She appeared to pull away from him (like she didn't want to be that close). Then, it appeared that she was kiddingly bumping into him and he was kiddingly pushing her away. She did appear as if she was drinking but not falling down drunk.

This guy looked stocky and strong, like he could have easily overpowered her. I can well imagine that he targeted her in the casino. He probably watched her and befriended her, with the intention of raping her.

I thought that I heard (on Nancy Grace) that he had a prior rape charge years ago.

I think that he forced this young woman into his car, drove her somewhere, raped her and killed her. Now, it's a matter of figuring out where he went.

He could even have forced her into the trunk of his car and drove somewhere to rape her. I'm thinking that they found the hair in his car trunk.

I don't think that this guy is going to confess or cooperate. So, it will be up to the police to figure it out.

I also thought that I heard that he is now being called a suspect and not just a person of interest.

Heres part of an article, rest is at the link.

His wife has also retained an attorney and has declined further interviews with law enforcement. Garcia reportedly had a black eye, which is not evident in his booking photo. He also reportedly had bite marks, but Lt. George Malim, spokesman for the Placer County Sheriff's Department, would not confirm nor deny the information. He declined to discuss "forensic evidence."
