DNA tech used to crack 'Cloverleaf rapist' cold case in Northern California, officials say
A yearslong cold case involving a series of violent sexual assaults in Sacramento County was solved using DNA technology, officials said. Arrested was 40-year-old JD Wallace Simien.
Investigators linked Simien, who the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office referred to as the "Cloverleaf Rapist," to several sexual assaults in the northern part of Sacramento County between 2013 and 2014. He was given the nickname because the assaults happened near freeway entrances and exits, forming a shape on the map resembling a cloverleaf pattern.
