Husband, wife and 5-year-old daughter dead in 'horrific' slaying in Santa Barbara County home
http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-triple-homicide-santa-barbara-20160324-story.html

"Dr. Weidong Henry Han; his wife, Huijie Yu, 29; and their daughter, Emily Han, were found dead Wednesday in their home in the 4600 block of Greenhill Way."

"Authorities said the trio were homicide victims and have said the killings were not random."

“Sheriff’s detectives are actively investigating this case and are working around the clock to determine who is responsible for this horrific crime,” Santa Barbara County sheriff's spokeswoman Kelly Hoover said.

“Detectives are following up on all leads and while they are not ruling out any possibilities, early indications are that this was not a random attack.”

Weidong Han ran the Santa Barbara Herb Clinic, which practices Chinese medicine and offers a Chinese herbal pharmacy.

The clinic is about three miles from the home where Han and his family were found slain. Public records show that Han purchased the home in 2012.

According to his clinic’s website, Han, who was born into a family of doctors, wrote several books. As an herbalist, Han created “individualized herbal formulas” for his patients.

The daughter, Emily, was a kindergartner at Foothill Elementary School, just two miles from the home.

:frown:
What a despicable crime. How dare something murder innocents.

Godspeed Emily
Godspeed Dr. Han
Godspeed Huijie

I can't imagine why anyone would want to murder this doctor who sounds like he devoted his life to healing people, and to also murder his wife and 5 yr. old little daughter. Looks like they lived in a very nice area.

..... Dr. Han has been in private practice since 1989. Over the years, Dr. Han has treated thousands of patients for a wide variety of ailments, ranging from the common cold to life-threatening conditions, and has been recognized as a master herbalist and diagnostician. He has acquired a reputation for treating difficult and complex cases, and has attracted patients from all over the United States and as far away as Europe.

Dr. Han frequently gives talks and lectures on medicine-related subjects, and serves on the advisory and scientific boards of several companies. He is currently under contract with Random House to write a book on Chinese Medicine and the integration of Chinese and Western Medicine.

Triple Homicide on Greenhill Way
UPDATE: Victims Identified as Dr. Weidong “Henry” Han, Wife Huijie “Jennie” Yu, and Daughter Emily
http://www.independent.com/news/2016/mar/24/triple-homicide-greenhill-way/

Emily was enrolled in kindergarten at Foothill Elementary School. By Thursday afternoon, Foothill kindergarten families were consulting the school psychologist about how best to discuss the incident with their children.

More information will be released Friday at noon, Hoover said.

This news article tells of another horrific family murder in August 2014 of a boy that attended the same school.
What a shame, the students have to somehow absorb this kind of terrible information without developing PTSD.

Curious Me, I cannot imagine either. Evil, just plain evil.
I have a feeling the killer is someone they know and it is probably greed, well greed is at the top of my short list.

You know what they say...Only the good die young. With that said, I will live forever.

I wonder if the home was looted or if it's one of those business connections. But why kill the whole family? This is probably going to be one of my insomnia nights.

.....for a welfare check, said Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kelly Hoover. “They found evidence inside [the home] that prompted a suspicious death investigation.” The Mediterranean-style home, located in an unincorporated area between Goleta and Santa Barbara, sits at the end of a long driveway and occupies a seven-acre property.

BBM:
Leave no witnesses, is my first thought.

I did not read anything about the crime scene being staged or if anything was missing.

Curious Me, can you please explain the corporation connection please?

Sorry, at first I assumed he had some corporate connections, but then changed my wording to business connections.

U2forever, we both follow the Dr. Sievers case. I think she would've like Dr. Han and they would have had a lot in common in their theories about modern medicine.

I see he wrote a couple of books:

"Ancient Herbs, Modern Medicine"

"Healing Our Planet, Healing Our Selves: The Power of change Within to Change the World"

I thought about Dr. Sievers while reading about Dr. Han. East meets west. They probably would have had a connection.
Thanks for the link.

The first things that came to my head is that it might be work related. Perhaps a patient who was psychotic and was receiving some kind of treatment. That just happened yesterday in an unrelated case:

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/03/2...ed-in-apparent-murder-suicide-police-say.html

Or perhaps a family member who lost a loved one because the treatment failed.

Another possibility, which we have frequently seen, it could be someone the family hired to help at the home.

Waiting to learn more of what LE has to solve these horrific crimes. An angry patient, an old lover, a greedy family member, a business connection ..what possesses someone to kill even a 5 yr. old little girl???

I hope LE can find some evidence to point them to the killer(s). Sounds like LE need people to come forward at this point. It wasn't random, but what was it?

The home looks somewhat secluded and I doubt anyone would hear the crimes occurring. Somebody in a comments section linked a map to the property and I took a look. The property seems to sit on a hill with only one road leading up to it. There's a residential area of houses and streets below someone would have to use to get to the one road leading up to their house. Hey, I wonder if there's cameras or a home security system.

There's some pictures of their home. The wife went by the name Jennie, and had such lovely long hair in one pic. I haven't seen any photos of 5 yr. old Emily.

Dr. Glenn Miller, a psychiatrist, who with Han was among three co-authors of a book on ancient herbs and modern medicine, told the Santa Barbara News-Press that Han was 'a healer in the truest sense of the word' and a doting father.

Can't get to the actual story yet as I don't subscribe to this newspaper. Yikes, the suspect was arrested in San Diego...that's where I live.
