I agree that he's medicated properly for legit. reasons. His BP is likely sky high without meds right now. A BP med. can't be started at the therapeutic dosage in most cases... it has to be adjusted slowly for safety. He may be acting like a vegetable, but he's raging inside. No medication takes away the anger he has to have right now.

I think CA has prison hospitals, since Charles Manson died in one. He could go to a penal hospital, right? Physically restrain him properly and chemically restrain him with sedatives, tube feed him while he's on his pity party hunger strike, then 'buff and turf him' and get him to trial.

The Untouchable just got caught with a very sharp hook. Justice delayed but not denied.
We also don't know what he's prescribed. He mentioned having a history of mental health problems and being in an institution. He could be on some serious psych and mood meds.

I hope that poor man who spent 39 years in prison for nothing finally gets to see the real culprit convicted. If that crime was one of DeAngelo's then that man is as much of a victim of the GSK as anyone else in this case.

If I spent 39 years in prison for a crime I didn't commit, that would not make me feel any better.

It looks like they are probably using a metal detector to find items and dig them up. It seems like a bit of a longshot. I wouldn't expect much from it.

I agree. I think they will find a lot of “trophies “ in the house somewhere. I think he kept everything he ever stole.

During the Visalia Ransacker months, he burglarized like 110 homes.....it was usually on the weekends. It was 1974-1975, like 13 months or so.......that's like 9 burglaries a month, break it down to like 2 each weekend. He was married in 1973, what the heck did he tell his wife while being a prolific burglar, because he had to do recon work on the homes, figure out when the owners werent there, etc....so took many more hours than just the days he burglarized.

Maybe his wife thought he was out cheating, & never figured him for a
Gary Ridgeway's wife (Green River Killer) never knew the poor thing was totally sucker punched to find out. He played the perfect husband roll to a T.

Deangelo received a GED in 1964. Had he stopped attending High School prior to that?

I've only seen the GED reference on one timeline and nothing about him quitting school. All the news articles I've read say he graduated from high school in June 1964. But it could be both - I've known people who graduated with their class even though they hadn't met all the requirements and got their GED soon after. My brother quit high school to join the Navy and received his GED before he left for Vietnam. (I don't know how long it took but it wasn't more than a few months.)

DeAngelo was born in Bath, N.Y., but graduated from Folsom High School in suburban Sacramento in June 1964. He enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

DeAngelo graduated from nearby Folsom High School in 1964 and joined the U.S. Navy.

The graduate of nearby Folsom High School and U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War seemed to settle into his own suburban existence in the modest three-bedroom home on Canyon Oak Drive.

I am really curious about this.
I read that at least one dog was beaten severly?

I ask this because I've owned German Shepherd dogs all of my life, and I'm pretty darn sure that my current 120 pound male would not allow anyone to hurt me.

I would like to know what kind of dogs these were? Were these Cocker Spaniels? Where they little terriers?

Truly. Dog repelliant? That would work on Doberman's, German Shepherds?

Feedback appreciated!
Sincerely,
Kali/California

I think it has to do with the level of danger, that the public is open to, by the suspect being free. I don't think DB Cooper posed as much of a threat, as a sadistic serial killer, prolific rapist does. JMO

I agree, but they still spent 45 years looking for him, and then just suddenly stopped. It seems that it would be worth a few more months to search for is DNA.

I saw an episode of expedition unknown the other day and they were using this exact strategy. It's a long wire stick. They stick it into the ground every few inches and put flags anytime the stick hit a solid object, rather than goes deep.into the dirt. They can even get an outline of the object. The dig holes look exactly like that, they dug in areas of a hit. I saw those green metal cases and wondered if those were buried (although they didn't look dirty). The evidence amount sure suggests they are finding possible trophies! So scary.

I think he mainly went into homes without dogs, he spent a lot of time doing recon, stalking victims, peeping & prowling.

I think the dog repellent could have also been used to spray his get away. I don't think he always sprayed it on himself. He could have sprayed it in the yards & around where he sat & peeped in windows for hours.

When he shot Brian and Katie Maggiore they were walking their dog Thumper. He threw the dog (a mini poodle) into a pool. It survived, was rescued, and given to Katie's parents.

There are dogs in some of his other crimes and I don't know all the details other than sometimes he left them alone and other times he hurt (maybe killed?) them.

This is from Sacramento’s local ABC affiliate. I trust they checked with Folsom High School.

“Born in Bath, New York, he attended Folsom High School from 1961 to 1963, but did not graduate. He received his GED in 1964.”

I think he shoplifted so that nobody could say "hey, this guy came into our store and purchased these items, no receipt, no proof,"

Perhaps the hammer was to assult his next victim, maybe in ran into a dog when he was to attack again.

MOO

I agree. He was a cop. So he knew that detectives would be visiting the local stores and asking clerks if they remembered anyone coming into the store and buying those items. He would not have wanted to take a chance on one of the clerks remembering him. If they didn't see him take the items, there would have been nothing for them to remember. There were no security cameras in those days. So if no one saw anything, nothing would have been known about it.

Not sure if anyone has posted this, but have a look at the comment by "JD" in the first few comments on Michelle McNamara's article for Los Angeles Magazine. Could it have been Joseph DeAngelo himself? As an aside, Michelle was one brave woman to put her name to this article and to work on that book.. who knows what he could have done.

There is another interesting one from 18 days ago by DLC.
Likely bogus but very interesting timing indeed.
