Accidentally stumbled on this article while doing research on another Jane Doe:

"We were three hours behind the body being dumped". The first unidentified woman was discovered Dec. 17, 1977, three hours after a witness saw her body being deposited long the side of Highway 20 near Interstate 80, about 60 miles east of Auburn." Witness information indicates that two white men driving a Toyota Celica may have been involved.

After the discovery, a witness came forward to report seeing the two unidentified men parked at the location. The passenger in the car was attempting to drag something heavy out the back seat."

"Photographs of the partial dental plate of the victim were distributed nationwide through a dental magazine."

Jane Doe had had no fingerprints in the system, indicating that she hadn't been arrested before. Smith said there was "physical evidence that she may have been a prostitute... Smith said he followed up the lead by traveling to every brothel in the state of Nevada, hoping that someone would identify the woman's photograph."

"Two years after her discovery, Smith said the victim was finally buried in an unmarked grave in the Auburn area. Physical evidence was retained in the case the victim and her killers are ever identified".

All very new information to me. I've never seen mention of two men being seen dumping her three hours before she was found anywhere else. Also haven't seen mention of a partial dental plate either.

Considering she was seen being dumped the same day, we can assume she was killed elsewhere. Between the estimated PMI and the time she was dumped she could be from fairly far away.

Probably unrelated but a woman in Salinas was last seen driving a yellow 1974 Toyota Celia the year prior. Car was never recovered.

Not sure exactly where she was buried but if I were to take a guess it would have been the Auburn District Cemetery, it's quite close to the funeral home.

There's three Jane Doe's I can find buried there, this plot seems to be the oldest

I am doubtful that this is her but her vital statistics match quite well.

Her case was modified Feb 6, 2024 but no public changes from what I can see

Placer Jane Doe 1977 was found around 1/4 mile from where now-identified Donna Lass (of Zodiac-suspected fame) was found in 1986, just across Highway 20. Since Jane Doe was recovered less a week after death in 1977 (estimated 2-6 days), her case is a prime candidate for IGG - if it isn't being worked on already by Placer County Sheriff.

Randy Kraft & one of his partners-in-murder, Seelig, drove a Toyota Celica, but as far as I am aware, they only killed boys and men.

Another California duo operating at this time were Bianchi and Buono. I have no idea what access to vehicles they had, but they did target girls and women.
