I wonder if she is going through something - she had a strange arrest on September 25:

Naked Woman Arrested for Allegedly Setting Fire to Hoopa Cemetery Plots, Tribal Police Say

At about 6:30 p.m. on September 25, Hoopa Valley Tribal Police received a call for service at the Hoopa Valley Tribal Cemetery for the report of a nude female standing next to a fire, which was out of control.

When the officers arrived, they saw 32-year-old Emilee Risling, who was nude next to the fire. They immediately detained her and requested Hoopa Wildland Fire’s response.

After Hoopa Wildland Fire personnel extinguished the fire, police officers arrested Risling and booked her into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on arson and indecent exposure charges. Hoopa Valley Tribal Police will be requesting prosecution by the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office.

SBM

The Hoopa Valley, Yurok, and Karuk Tribes are all working with the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office on efforts to locate Risling. And the Yurok Tribal Court has an ongoing project to focus attention on MMIWG2 (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit People).

Judge Abby Abinanti from the Tribal Court is our guest.

YUROK RESERVATION, Calif. -- The young mother had behaved erratically for months, hitchhiking and wandering naked through two Native American reservations and a small town clustered along Northern California’s rugged Lost Coast.

But things escalated when Emmilee Risling was charged with arson for igniting a fire in a cemetery. Her family hoped the case would force her into mental health and addiction services. Instead, she was released over the pleas of loved ones and a tribal police chief.

Unfortunately another case of someone in need of MH assistance who has gone missing.

The case of Emmilee Risling's disappearance has relatives and MMIW advocates calling for greater attention and better data collection

“The amount of times my sister has been picked up over the years by the (Humbold County) sheriff, it’s like, ’Let’s get her in trouble, but let’s not help her.’ When police officers have a certain number of run-ins with a person, and they go missing…they have this stigma over who this person was, or who they thought she was.”

EMMILEE RISLING: A LOCAL NATIVE WOMAN’S SAD STORY HIGHLIGHTED IN NATIONAL NEWS STORY ABOUT MMIW

32-year-old Emmilee Risling, college graduate and traditional native dancer, disappeared last October from northern Humboldt after she had struggled for years to deal with addiction and mental health issues. Stubbornly though, her story refuses to slip beneath our notice like that of so many other missing and murdered native women–her disappearance was national news yesterday. Media organizations from Oregon to Taiwan carried her photo and wove her loss with that of hundreds of other native woman whose lives are cut short and whose families have little or no resolution or justice.

Bumping for Emmilee by posting the ABC story again. It is so well written…and tragic. I was encouraged to see that it was picked up in many locations, even internationally, but saddened that few are giving it attention on WS. My heart breaks for her family and children. :(

“Another challenge facing relatives, women’s advocates, and tribes, is the question over jurisdiction. And red tape.

“We’d reached out to the BIA for support and other federal organizations, and until the sheriff’s department classifies it as a cold case, federal organizations can’t help,” said Mary Risling.

“We all feel helpless.””

BIA must be the Bureau of Indian Affairs, a federal agency. How frustrating to have to wait until it’s a cold case. :(
Emmilee looks so different with her short hair vs the long hair photos, so it’s good they provided that pic.

@Protectwomenandgirls , I agree. As a society we see MH issues impacting so many people. Several other WS cases I'm following also involve MH problems, or at least strong suspicions of them. The recent Randa Davidson case likely featured MH issues, but unfortunately her family only spoke out about it after she was found deceased.

We're all hoping Emmilee is located soon.

Tribal and local authorities and volunteers from a Minnesota-based missing persons foundation will search the Yurok Reservation in remote Northern California over three days for Emmilee Risling, a 33-year-old Native woman who went missing last October.

The search, which will involve more than 30 people, several boats and 10 cadaver dogs, was prompted by an Associated Press article published in February about Risling’s disappearance. It begins Friday morning and ends Sunday night.

Emmilee Risling, like many other missing Indigenous people across the country, still has not been found.

Risling, a 33-year-old mother of two who is a member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe — as well as a descendant of the Karuk and Yurok tribes — was last seen leaving a friend’s house in the Pecwan area on foot on the morning of Oct. 14, 2021 and reportedly was en route to Klamath. Last weekend, a large-scale three-day search was conducted on Yurok tribal lands for Risling including the first-time use of cadaver sniffing dogs.
