Can I just go on record right now to say that if I turn up missing I'd like people to get to the truth/facts and not worry about offending my family or painting me in a bad light?

Ok. I've spent more time trying to decipher this tonight than anything on this thread!! I went to 121 on here. Am I at least close???? . Clue please!! Or at least a "warmer" or "colder"?

Absolutely, and that is a given. I've never bought into the whole "he is so nice, no way he could've done it" argument that often pervades these kinds of threads/cases. Fact is, we don't know most of the facts, and we've seen other purportedly 'nice' people do some pretty horrendous things. I do, however, think that discussing a linked article that alleges an affair with a married marine is perfectly in bounds for speculation, and that no one on here - at least that I've seen - is passing moral judgments on Erin or defaming her for doing what countless men and women do everyday, rightly or wrongly. We are simply adding another plausible scenario to the mix of other plausible scenarios. It's merely another dynamic to the case and nothing more.

Absolutely. And agree. I just elude to the fact it's coming from her Husbands Family. It may be true. Or not. Some have eluded they don't like to slam a female victim in MSM. Since when has MSM ever shied away from facts?

Not covering the Christian/Newsome murders. Not covering the "back story" of kids who claim to have been bullied but there is a trail of information that they were bullies themselves. I think MSM just steers clear of certain stories or angles.

I second that! And I definitely wouldn't care to air my dirty laundry if it was a difference between uncovering my body or trying to cover up the truth to make the family look "normal"

Ok. If I were dead, then no don't air my dirty laundry. If I am clinging to live in a crack house and the media gets the word out that I'm a crackhead and other druggies can aid in finding me, then yes. Get the word out. ;D

It doesn't seem that the media bringing up this affair will aid in finding her - they're not mentioning who the guy was and getting his picture out there. Although I guess everyone on base knows who he is.

THAT would help in locating her remains. Everyone rack their brains about where THAT guy was on the day she went missing.

Me too. That's why I'm not willing to go there. Erin is a victim. She may never be able to speak to her truth. If it is true whatever in terms of a crime. So much is so hinky. The last person to see a missing person is never off my radar.

Whether a person has had an affair or done something morally questionable (or illegal or dangerous or stupid for that matter) does not make then any less of a victim.

I think many of us, myself included, are happy to discuss ALL angles without judgement. Erin is a victim no matter what may or may not have happened.

Not all of it is coming from the husband's family, though his sister (or aunt?) did bring it up first it seems. There is that article that alleges an affair, and their info purportedly stems from an LE source. In addition, a marine wife on base commented something along those lines, but also alluded to the idea that this particular marine's wife stated that he was missing for a good period of time during the time line in question, and that he wasn't there when LE came to interview him. If true, the fact that LE came to interview him that quickly is pretty serious bidness.

Now, I don't know if any of that is true beyond a shadow of a doubt, but it is fairly compelling info, especially when it's coming from 'inside' or 'proximate' sources. We have to ask ourselves the plausibility of it being true when it is seemingly the pervading story locally. I lend it credence, at least until LE rebuts it. And that's another thing, LE certainly knows that this information is out there, yet they haven't attempted to clarify or rebut it once. That's fairly ominous.

Hi everyone newbie here so forgive me if this has been covered. I've been stalking the posts and haven't commented until now. If someone did do something to Erin, I find it difficult to believe that in broad daylight (perhaps the peak time of the park with people trying to beat the heat) they would easily carry or drag a body through the park with intentions of disposing of her. That would take gall. I can't shake the feeling that something happened to her the night before, at or after the party. Also if the husband isn't talking per request of his chain of command, couldn't this also be advised by JAG if he lawyered up? Not sure if that would be released to the press? All of this of course are just my wheels turning and complete speculation.

The longer you are with us at WS you will find many crimes just like this one that we discuss does happen right in the daytime in broad daylight. We have had many cases where children and adult females were abducted and later found murdered and they were taken right on a busy street in broad daylight and no one saw or heard a thing.

I don't think he buried her body in the middle of the day. Although from what I have seen he could have gone into one of the remote areas there and could have done it during the day. I do think there was a meeting at the park and they may have gone elsewhere and then she was murdered and brought back to the park to bury after it was dark. Or her body could be buried many miles away from the park.

I fully understand why Jon is not talking publically. They often tell the Marines to keep a low profile in a case like this and let the investigation unfold as it should.

I don't see any reason why Jon would have lawyered up. LE has never even hinted that he is a POI or suspect..that I have seen.

I have a feeling if the other Marine rumor is true it is he that should be finding a lawyer.

I don't get her answer. Why would that make a difference?
They think she ran off on her own?

My thought is that, since they think she's dead they don't need posters asking for people to let them know if you see her walking around somewhere. Just my opinion and not sure I agree. If they put posters, perhaps someone who saw something that day and is not connected to FB would have something of interest.

I actually spoke to someone today who had NO IDEA there was a missing Marine wife!?!
