I thought about Erin last night as I was watching Shark Week.:croc: The scientists were looking for a great white shark named Colossus, in the big ocean. One shark in a big ocean. And they found him. I got a little mad, then I got very, very sad. I will NEVER understand how they can find one shark in a big ocean, but not a young lady.

Agree 100%. Makes no sense, but sure shows where we place our priorities, doesn't it? And if they think she is "voluntarily missing" it sort of lets them off the hook. This is only my opinion, my dad is a retired police officer, so I mean no disrespect. They aren't all lazy. JMO.

I agree. I sent an e mail in response to his asking him again why no follow up articles have been published and I've yet to hear back. Me thinks he doesn't want to answer my question. JMO
GREAT JOB!! Stay with this guy and see if you can get an answer. Looked up his personal FB page, but no references to the case. There may be something further back in his entries but I'm not familiar enough w/ FB to find it. I understand he made the statement was made on "Where is Erin Corwin" FB but I was hoping he had mentioned on his personal page. Let us know if he replies to your latest question. If anyone can research his FB page, see if there are any references to the case. Sorry, I am not that knowledge in using FB.

Okay, back to the drawing board.. Guys, we're making a huge assumption here, that the car had always been red and that it continues to be red right now. I'd assume that during his military training Chris learned about camouflage. What if it was his Jeep all along that was camouflaged to look like a red car? Check these out: http://www.coverking.com/custom-car-covers.html

Scenario:

-Chris buys a red car cover, and modifies it, cutting holes for doors, windows and plates etc.
-He tells Erin he wants to take her hunting. (hunting is about the only thing he can do for this to work)
-He covers up his Jeep and spray-paints the doors red with washable paint.

Annnnnnnnnnnd you lost me right there.

Occam's Razor.
Keeping it simple over here. ;)

He drove by once. There is no way he would have noticed a license plate. I think the only reason why he slowed down was because the thought a woman might be in trouble (with a broken down car).
He sat there and watched this women exit her car, lock it.walk around the car to the passengers side walk back around her car to the red car, get in, have a conversation with the driver then watch the red car drive off.Was able to give at least a partial description of the women and the driver of the red car and I also believe made the comment that the red car was in gear.So he was able to notice all of this but there is no way he could have noticed a license plate.

I think he could have noticed a license plate if he thought something unsavory was happening - which I don't think he did. He observed the situation, but didn't seemed alarmed by it. I would only think to write down a LP# if I thought someone was committing a crime or was acting suspiciously

What a strange thing to say. What does texting have to do with her being gullible? What does her liking to text have to do with anything, really? I like to text. So?
Also could be that she got in the car with CL and he asked her to turn the phone off, either because he told her he didn't want someone interrupting them or for her to be distracted. I can see a gullible 19 year old who liked to text believing that.

I think you took the post completely out of context. I believe what the poster is trying to imply is that EC is a young 19 year old girl who likes to text (as with most people in that age group), however, if her "friend" asks her to turn off her phone she may be inclined to do so without giving it a second thought. This is where I think the gullible thing comes in to play as she didn't suspect anything when he asked her to turn it off. Azure please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think he answered your question. If it's legit, then why doesn't he report it, instead of just saying it on FB?

I don't think LE has said it was nonsense, wrong, made up, not what he thought it was, etc. Maybe some thought because LE didn't mention it to others and had to go back again, he thought that? So no, he evaded the question IMO.

His response to me was "That information is attributed to Sheriff's Investigators."

This was my e mail to him: You made the following post on the "Where is Erin Corwin" Facebook page: "The Red car witness has been dismissed as a publicity-seeker" and I'm wondering if you have anything to support your statement. I'm not saying I disagree with you I'm just curious as to why you made this statement and why there haven't been any follow up articles regarding this witness and his lack of credibility.

I put a little pressure on too:

I saw your comment on FB about Michael Beasley having been found not credible. I am torn about the red car myself but, if he really has been found not credible by investigators, why not write an article discounting the red car? Just commenting about it on FB, without attribution, kind of lets you off the hook. People have read it and repeated it as fact, even without any sourcing for your remark. That hardly seems fair. either to Mr. Beasley, or those of us who genuinely want to make up our minds about the red car.

I understand that you replied to someone else that Sheriff's investigators were dismissing his claims. Ok, great. Still, why not write the article? You had nothing more than "sources close to the Sheriff's investigation" about the affair story, and you wrote that article days before other news sources did. Kudo's to you for that. But, why not go ahead and write the article about the red car based on the Sheriff's investigators dismissing him as a publicity seeker? Or do you not trust your source on this one enough to write the article? And if you don't trust the source, then why make the comment on FB? It just seems odd.

Also, there is a word missing from this article: http://www.z1077fm.com/six-weeks-missing-still-no-evidence-of-crime-in-erin-corwin-case/ The article incorrectly states Jonathan Corwin reported her missing after she DID return home.

Thanks and I'll look forward to hearing back from you,

Look I hate to say this but there are quite a few wives and husbands in the 18-21 on bases. There is constant drama and affairs that go on between these young people, many of which are having their first real away from home experience

I think that after she got pregnant the older marine lead her on to believe he would leave his wife. It was a few days until he was scheduled to leave. I don't think they were meeting to celebrate anything. I think she wanted answers abt him leaving his wife. Jmo

This case has pulled at my heart strings and has really haunted me. I cannot get it off my mind at all. Today I was sitting at a red light thinking about it, and BAM out of nowhere I remembered something we all have forgotten!
I think I have finally solved the "red car" mystery. MB saw the Erins' car and a small red sedan, on the side of the road. The affidavit says a single set of shoe tracks lead from the driver’s door of Corwin’s vehicle to a set of tire tracks. Those tracks, are similar to the tracks that would be left by Lee’s Jeep Cherokee.

What we are forgetting here, is Michael also said EC's car had been MOVED about 100 yards away from where him and his sister had both seen it!

I think CL rented the red car, took EC and killed her (that was hard to type) :frown: and threw her down a mine. Then went back later and got his Jeep, moved EC's car off the road (probably at night) and those were indeed his Jeep's tire marks.

Eta:As I'm sure others have mention, the older marine had a lot to lose. If there was a baby and it was proven to be his, which would be easy to do, he could be court martialed for having an affair.

So in this scenario - CL drove himself and EC somewhere with mines (whether it be JTNP or elsewhere,) they hiked into the area from whereever he parked the red car and she was left there. Am I following you correctly? Just wanting to follow along, since the red car wouldn't be able to handle rough terrain as well as a Jeep.

That part of my post is just my own speculation.
What I was trying to get across was that since the affidavit said a single set of shoe tracks lead from the driver’s door of Corwin’s vehicle to a set of tire tracks that were similar to CL's Jeep Cherokee, people were questioning the red car theory. When in fact, EC's car had been moved at least 100 yards from where MB and his sister saw EC's car. When I think about that, I truly believe CL moved her car later using his OWN car.

Yes I know there's probably zero chance this could be EC, but please humor me here. :)

Over on "The Unidentified" threads here on WS, I was just reading about a jawbone found in the middle of a trail on the west side of Cuneo Creek Horse Camp in Humboldt Redwoods State Park (I admit it was the "Horse Camp" that made me do a double take).

I do realize this is nowhere near Twentynine Palms, but might be feasible if someone was driving up to Alaska and dumped something (someone?) on the way.

OP's linked article mentions the teeth are remarkably straight and white, with no dental work, so could be from a child or young adult. But another poster mentions that the wisdom teeth are fully erupted though, so might not be a child?

Again, I do realize there would be an infinitesimal chance this could be her. But - does anyone know anything about EC's teeth? In every picture I've looked at again tonight she has her lips together.

I agree, it's unlikely that this is Erin, but not impossible. It's been mentioned a few times that the Lee's could have disposed of items (or people) along their route. Anyone else follow the Charli Scott case? I had to click on this link to see the pic, solely for an idea of what a jawbone alone looks like, tossed in the woods. This is not what I pictured at all. This is very clean looking. Odd.

We'll- never say never, but unfortunately so many people going missing in Humbolt/Trinity counties area due to the marijuana grows/trade that I feel the chances are very slim.

I recall seeing one photo when I was looking around when she was first missing. Her teeth were showing and they looked completely normal.

I wish we had a map of the areas searched (and the mines that have been searched).

MB didn't state that she walked around to HER passenger side. He stated that she got out of her car and walked to HIS passenger side and got into the car after (possibly) locking her door.
