It says written in ink -- does that mean it's a tat, or did she (or somebody) just write it there with a ballpoint pen or something?

Good question. My initial understanding of it was that "Jesse" was a pen scribbling; that she perhaps was on the phone, sitting down and had to write something down and didn't have a paper, only a pen... That's what I used to do all the time back in the time of landline phones. If she indeed wrote it, she was right-handed, though. I think that if "Jesse" was a tattoo, it would say so, wouldn't it?
