I know San Mateo, CA is about a 6 or 7 hour drive from Hacienda Heights, but Richard Lamson was recently added to NamUs and a lot of things about him remind me of this UID.

The postmortem for this guy used to be available on the LA County Coroner's site, but was taken down along with all the others.

But I remember what he looked like. He does look like Lamson, from what I remember. And not particularly close to the facial reconstruction.

I don't remember seeing the PM photo for this UID. Unfortunately, I think when I first became interested in unidentified people is when LA county pulled their PM photos. There are a couple of them that I really wish I would have saved because there are times when the reconstruction looks a bit off from how I remember them looking, yet I can't 100% pinpoint how it is off (Wilmington John Doe is an example of this).

As I recall, the facial reconstruction portrays him with a little more Mediterranean look than he actually had.

I took a closer look at this one. I think this is our guy. :thumb: :thumb:

Same height, blue eyes. Favors pastel colored clothing (Last seen in "Coral" jacket, vs. Pink TShirt on UID). Even the boots match. And he does look alot like what I remember of the postmortem photo.

The John Doe's description indicates blue eyes, but the drawing depicts a guy with dark eyes. I lightened his eyes to match the written description, and now he looks alot like Lamson.

I found the postmortem photo of Hacienda Heights John Doe

WARNING - POSTMORTEM PHOTO AT LINK

1972 Hacienda Heights John Doe

He's not as close to Richard Lamson as I had thought.

I asked about a match last weekend when I first saw Richard Lamson and I'll keep you posted. Coincidentally, Inv. Machain is out and won't be back until the 29th of April.

This guy has been in NamUs since 2010. However, his casefile has remained unpublished until recently.

His listed height is a little tall for the John Doe.

But ...

* The timeline is pretty close (Jun'72 to Nov'72)
* His blue eyes match the John Doe
* He had prior injuries to both legs, which might correspond to the surgical scar on the John Doe's right knee.
* Both he and the John Doe were LKA in California (it is unclear where he was headed when he boarded the bus)
* The circumstances (gunshot victim) fits the circumstances of having a scheduled testimony against the Hell's Angels.

And I do see some facial similarities.

I wonder if he is on their radar as a possible for this Doe.

It just occurred to me that this Jane Doe's case looks strangely similar to the Hacienda Heights John Doe case.

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/865umca.html
http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/584ufca.html

The John Doe was killed 10 months before the Jane Doe's body was found.
They were killed about 8 miles from each other.
Both were in their teens or early 20's
Both were killed by gunshot
Both were wearing peace sign earrings.

I wonder if these two cases are connected.

That's an interesting thought. With one body in a shallow grave and the other gunned down on the street, I kind of think not, but the connections are intriguing.

I would suggest using the social, security death index...and SS numb index online...ancestry. And then do a full credit report using his SS numb name addresses and any alias he may Hv used. Nationwide. C if u get a hit. DL numb would also help.

This is sad that he was so brutally murdered, especially if he was a peace-oriented free spirit as hippies are

He looks so much like Mitchel Weiser from New York, but Mitchel didn't disappear until several months after this UID was found.

I think we might have a very good possible here.

Steven Ericson and HHJD.jpg

This man, Steven Lewis Ericson, was just listed in Charley Project (sourced from the California Attorney General website). He is not yet listed in NamUs.

There are discrepancies in eye color (hazel compared to blue) and height – (70 inches compared to John Doe’s 75 inches). (My recollection is that the John Doe’s listed height was shorter. Was it revised?)

But the other comparisons are striking enough, in my opinion, to outweigh that the height and eye color inconsistencies.

• His date of last contact (June 1 1972) precedes the John Doe’s Date of Discovery by five months.
• His last known location (Nevada County CA) is about an 8 hour drive from Hacienda Heights.
• The visual comparisons are very consistent. The eyebrows and hairlines at the temples are identical. Facial structures are also identical..
