According to his Help Find page he has a tattoo on his leg. There are none mentioned on the unidentified website. Also, his height seems a bit out

I’m bringing a new member’s post over from Jennifer Wilmer’s thread because it gives a clear picture of what it’s like working on a pot farm and the whole general atmosphere in the area. Jennifer disappeared in the early ‘90’s heading to work on a “farm”. While the post touches on aspects of her case, it makes clear how dangerous the area is from a first-hand point of view.

If Ivan has money and is not of sound mind, he would be a sitting duck, I’m afraid, especially if he got to Garberville. Very bad people hang out there. I’m sorry. I wish I could be more optimistic. :(

It was a fisherman who found a body floating on the Van Duzen river located in Humboldt county. The DNA samples & dental x-rays have already arrived at the USA and they are checking if those match Ivan.

The article ends saying that the family is fearing the worst because the description of the clothing they have been provided with seems to match what Ivan was wearing when he disappeared.

I don't understand why so many young men end up being found in a river in the USA.

Here is the article translated: https://translate.google.com/transl.../2018/02/08/actualidad/1518089623_546601.html
A fisherman found last Monday a floating body in the Van Duzen River, in Humboldt County, California (USA). The place where the body was found is very close to the area where at the end of Novembers, Ivan Liñan, a native of Maracena (Granada) and 31 years old disappeared. The local police is collating the DNA of the body with samples that the police have sent them from Spain. He has also sent them, according to friends of Liñán, a dental profile.

I am so very sorry to hear this. :(

Ivan was identified by photos of his tattoos and dental records.

The family intends that Ivan’s body be brought to Spain without the need for DNA testing, as requested by the California police, because this procedure delays the repatriation several weeks.

In the article linked above are some details I have not read before (BBM):
Linan went missing, according to a friend, after becoming progressively more paranoid. “From thanks giving he started making strange coments about people trying to hurt, kidnap ir take pictures from him,” wrote Iban Fernandez, who was driving the car that Linan was in when he disappeared.

“We were in our way to met our friend’s on [Hwy] 36,” Fernandez stated, “when suddenly he grab the steering wheel and we Crash with a fallen tree…After that he got agressive, hitting things and me…We where fighting during a while, and when i tried to get help…he ran away into the woods.”

I think it's possible he was not paranoid at all. I might have missed it but have they said the cause of death?

My condolences to Ivan's family. That said, I hope they will allow the DNA testing to be completed to make 100% sure this was Ivan. I have seen them make mistakes before. Here's a California case from last year where they supposedly ID'd a man by fingerprints. His family had a funeral and buried him, only to find out afterwards that they buried the wrong man and their son was still alive: https://www.ocregister.com/2017/06/...range-county-coroners-office-dead-man-is-son/

We’ve had that information about Ivan’s paranoia since this article on 12/2.

I did wonder earlier whether his concerns were more reality than actual paranoia. When you work on a grow anything can happen. But I also wondered if the amount and strength of the marijuana he might have been smoking, plus other new drugs could have caused paranoia and delusions. It happens. And of course, we only have his friend’s story. I don’t think we’ve heard the cause of death yet, and that’s an important piece to the puzzle. An autopsy can tell if he died from drowning or not. A toxicology report would be interesting.

That’s horrible about a family burying the wrong man due to a mistake. I’m sure they’re thrilled, but they went through a lot of grief!

:rose: I'm sorry Ivan. RIP
