Also Following, what a strange set of circumstances, and as someone up thread suggested, why Brawley? Ha, went to Tripadvisor for Brawley and there is zero under "things to do" there. Weird. Missing ten days now, strange. I think the "Landlord" is going to have a lot of explaining to do.

I believe if LE can access their cell phone data they may be able to uncover more vital imformation.

Was the tag number from their landlord's vehicle or theirs? Tia

I pray they are located soon.

Even if going to SD I still think he would have kept in touch with his mom.

Since he has not it worries me greatly for their safety.

Jmho
Strange how their destination was first Brawley (which is not really a place on a map to want to go) then onto San Diego. Wouldn't you tell people your initial destination would be SD? St. George to Brawley is a pretty far trip. I wish there was more info of this source that they told where they were going.

I fear that this couple has suffered the bad end of a business deal gone wrong...

That’s what came to my mind. Brawley is close to Mexico. Could have been a business arraignment gone bad. Why else would you go there? Moo

Just wanted a bigger picture out there. It's the 11th day since they've been missing. Details are exceedingly sketchy, as usual. I think LE needs to release a bit more info in this case, as surely, they know something about Brawley and the landlords' connections to it. Why would anyone go to Brawley? What is out there?
There's is nothing in Brawley except farmland l, desert and a meat processing plant. Like others have said, it's close to Mexico and a place with a high crime rate

New information posted by the Help Find James Boley official FB page last night:

“Updated : James spoke with Law enforcement before he was reported missing. This is not uncommon for Law enforcement to talk to people from not around there. During the conversation James had told the officer they were headed to San Diego. We are assuming that Stacy was with him as well. The good news is that the officer took down the plate number. So for now we continue to search in the same area and expand to San Diego. So please continue to share.
Thank you!”

So my first thought when seeing they went with someone to Brawley, was a drug pickup to transport back to Utah. Makes even more sense after hearing he told an officer they were heading to San Diego. I hope this train of thought is not offensive, but he does have something about MJ on his fb page.

Could they have been invited with a lure of easy money? I'm not sure how worldly these two are? Odd that one of them never shared the new address with family? Did they have jobs in St. George?

Who was they that James was referring to: Himself and Stacey or did it include other persons.
It shouldn't take LE to long to run the Lic. Plate to identify registered owner of car. I would hope that SDPD would get this imformation today at the latest to get this case moving.

BOLO: EL CENTRO, CA.
UPDATE: 8-29-18
On Tuesday August 20, 2019 at 12:49 am, a couple were driving in a remote area of El Centro Ca, as they were approaching the intersection of Evan Hew and Austin Rd, they spotted a young couple walking along the desolate road, they immediately called 911 in fear of the condition the two might have been in , with temperatures being 112 degrees that day.
A deputy showed up right away to speak with the couple, they both had valid ID’s and were identified as Stacy May Best and James Devin Boley. The deputy asked if they were OK and James said they were, he told him that they were headed to the town of Seely and from there to San Diego all on foot.
The deputy advised them that it was not a good idea given the heat, along with the rough terrain to attempt such a difficult task. He noted that they only had one bottle of water between the two of them to share. The clothing they were wearing is listed on his report as Stacy wearing jeans and a pink shirt, James was wearing jeans and a white shirt. James jeans and a white shirt.
On Thursday August 22, 2019 James mom Pam had grown extremely concerned when she had not spoken with him since Saturday 8-17-19 when he had called her from Brawley, Ca to say that he and Stacy had made it safely and they would be returning to Utah the following day with their roommates. After making several calls it became apparent the two never made it back to Utah. She then filed a missing person report in Brawley on 8-22-19 .A few hours after filing the report she placed a call to James’s phone , for the first time in days someone had finally picked up, the person identified themselves as an employee of a market in Seely ,Ca his phone had been found there.
Law Enforcement has the phone and are going through it, along with viewing security footage to verify that it was James who lost the phone there.
As of today, we know that the license plate numbers Law Enforcement had obtained from a car near where they spoke to them, belonged to the couple who dialed 911 to get them help.
It is unknown what James and Stacy have been through, one theory is they were victims of a Craigslist scam with the roommates who took their money in Utah for a room for rent. Those same roommates immediately talked them into going, on a road trip to California, leaving them stranded in the middle of nowhere. If seen please dial 911 – Imperial County Sheriff’s Dept at

Thank you for posting that information Suglo. I'm very worried for this young couple. I just can't figure out why, if they were abandoned like that, why not ask the cop for help getting home, instead of saying they were ok and just walking to a far away town?!

ETA - And the phone being found! Hopefully LE will be able to find some clues to the "landlords" on it. But how scary that he is seperated from his phone...could he really have just left it by accident (do we really believe in such a coincidence) ...or was it taken from him in a situation of foul play...or could he have left it as a breadcrumb??

The mom seems to think that they are young and not thinking correctly after being dumped in Brawley. She said that LE is very worried about them also because they are out in that heat and have now lost their only phone. I wish we had a statement from the actual police officer who spoke to them. I wonder if they were drugged but scared to ask for help for fear of not being believed.

I really hope they hitchhiked to San Diego. Better there than in the middle of nowhere.

wow, the thought that LE is considering that this may have been a CL scam... these kids are somewhere.

Seely (Seely? Really? Population is like 2 people there, and they both work at the prison complex that is nearby) puts them even closer to Mexico though, and not a whole lot closer to San Diego. They can't walk to San Diego from there.

Not so worried that something bad has befallen them, more worried they are living transiently maybe? wow, this story needs to stay at the top IMO.

ETA: How do we get a MOD to make this story a banner at the top of the home page? I think Barbara Thomas is listed there now but perhaps these kids should be there.

i thought it was strange how they were still around the area 3 days later when he told his mom they'd be returning the next day. If they had been left abandoned (or robbed) why not tell the cop? Why didn't they have their vehicle? Why were they planning on making a 6+ trek to Brawley only to turn around the next day to return? Where is the logic in walking through the desert to San Diego? I hope LE is checking campgrounds around the area. They couldn't have got much farther than Ocotillo.

I had to map the locations to get a better mental picture...from the intersection they were seen at to Seely, CA they would travel about 5.5 miles west. Brawley, CA is 15 miles to the north. From Seely, CA to San Diego is about 125 miles west.
