One of his suspected victims, Danielle Bertolini was a childhood friend of mine. I worked with her mother and investigators on a two-part episode covering her case specifically. The first part is mostly about Danielle's life, what brought her out to Humboldt, and a little about the investigation from the family's perspective. The second is a focus on Jim Jones, Sheila Franks, and the investigation itself.

Update: he was admitted to North Kern State Prison on April 26, 2021 and will be eligible for parole in June 2023. He was convicted in Mendocino County on two felony counts: vehicle theft and reckless driving while evading police (northbound Highway 101 in the Ukiah area) back in June 2020. Other original charges listed by the arresting CHP officer (for meth possession, DUI (drugs), driving on a suspended license, and animal abuse) were dismissed for whatever reasons. Mendocino County Superior Court records (all of this is available online) seem to indicate that he was sentenced in late February 2021. It would appear that he was released after that sentencing until a prison reporting date. Court records also indicate he had a prior felony strike against him; this Mendocino County incident would make it two strikes.

So he will remain in custody for about two years. His connection to Elk, California is unknown.

Also, he may have extensive dark tattoos on both legs (unconfirmed -- based on a single witness who may have seen him wearing shorts in Elk).

Thank you for sharing. Still pushing for this case. Won't stop until his 2 year conviction for drugs and other charges turns into a life for 2 counts of murder. At least we don't have to worry about him hurting anyone for the time being.
