Linked article says that her family believes she is experiencing a mental health crisis. They think she may be fearful and paranoid and think that someone is after her. They think she may have wandered into the woods.

Her family says that she has lost weight over the past few weeks, and her face is now thinner than in the pictures.

Law enforcement is searching the area with officers and a chopper.

“We've got K9s on the ground, we've got search and rescue volunteers, we've got California Rescue Dog Association Volunteers, deputies on foot, utilizing ATV vehicles as well as thermal drones to help locate the missing person," said Ruiz.

We are asking our community to please be on the lookout for Etherton in the Cutten and Elk River areas as well as the McKay Tract Community Forest. We are also urging the public to please refrain from the wooded area north of Ridgewood Dr. and south of Lundbar Hills due to the ongoing Search and Rescue (SAR) K-9s tracking in that area.

The Sheriff’s Office is actively coordinating the SAR operation. Sheriff’s deputies are searching the trails on ATV, on foot and utilizing thermal drones. Deputies are also searching the public roadways. The Sheriff’s Office has called in the use of the U.S. Coast Guard to search from the air. HCSO has also called in the California Rescue Dog Association (CARDA) volunteers; the Humboldt County Sheriff SAR volunteers are also assisting with the coordinated search.

I wonder what her recent weight loss amd mental health decline is attributed too? Has she been ill? Hoping she is found quickly.

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office release:

The search continues for missing woman Jean Marie Etherton, age 63, of Eureka. We are on day #3 of the Search and Rescue (SAR) operation with continued use of K-9s, ATVs, on-foot deputies and trained SAR volunteers, and a thermal drone.
We are asking residents to please check surveillance camera footage from Sept. 8 between 1 - 7 a.m. and call (707) 445-7252if you have any footage of her.

In an update provided by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department on their Facebook page yesterday afternoon, new video surveillance footage from early Sunday morning shows Etherton wearing a white hooded jacket with a blue plaid design—contrary to earlier reports that she was wearing a tie-dye hoodie in pastel colors.
Authorities are asking residents to review surveillance footage from September 8 between 1 and 7 a.m. for any signs of her.
The search area remains focused on the wooded terrain north of Ridgewood Drive and south of Lundbar Hills.

..she may be experiencing a mental health crisis, which could make her fearful or paranoid, potentially preventing her from seeking help.
