Family Confirms Body Of Missing Two-Year-Old Merced Boy Was Found In Tuolumne County
[...]

Two bodies were found in Tuolumne County in a vehicle linked to their disappearance. Family members confirm the two bodies are that of two-year-old John Weir, and his father Steven, 32.

The car and two bodies were found near a campground, a place without cell phone service and a main road. Campers who spoke with CBS13 confirm Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies were on the campground for hours Sunday. They were told by deputies that a pinged cell phone led them to Sandy Flat campground.

The Sheriff’s Office says the car was found on Clark Fork road. Now, the coroner’s office is conducting an autopsy for a positive ID to find out exactly how this father and son died.

CBS13 did speak with the mother, Sarah Weir, who said it is still too soon to talk about the loss of her son.

Both parents fought for sole custody of the child...

[...]

The recommendation was for both parents to share custody of John through the week, according to a report filed in court.

At that time, Steven Weir lived in Atwater while Sarah Weir lived in Visalia. So the couple was ordered to exchange John at the McDonald’s restaurant near the Herndon Avenue-Highway 99 exit in Fresno.

[...]

Court documents outline a series of disagreements and issues, including an incident June 29 in which Steven Weir refused to hand the child over to his grandmother.

[...]

The couple was supposed to meet on Oct. 1 for further mediation.

Wasn't following this case but saw the updated article in msm. :(

Steven Weir is a disgusting and selfish monster and a complete failure.
It doesn't matter what his issues were or if he felt disrespected by John's mother, Sarah.
When a person chooses to take innocent life-- they've displayed to the world exactly what they are.
A beautiful boy lost his precious life to a loser.

Rest in peace and fly with the angels, John !

My utmost condolences to Sarah and all who loved this baby.

I believe its a case of him thinking because he couldnt have his wife he took the life of the boy so the mum couldnt have him. Very selfish individual. That little boy already had a fight on his hands with his illness and then for this to happen too. So very heartbreaking for the mum and all the family concerned.

Absolutely disgusting and evil.

Poor Sarah, my thoughts are with her and her family.

I hope and pray that darling's death was fast and painless. Rest in peace, sweet boy.

As far as the father goes, he can go to h-e- double hockey sticks for all I care.

I wonder if the child's illness played any role in the SW's decision, as it's a hereditary disease, and to be affected both parents have to be carriers of the gene causing it. Were there any young relatives of SW having died of the disease recently, maybe him having seen the effects of the disease? If so, he might have felt guilty of having passed on the disease to his son, and knowing how it was going to affect the child. Add to that a divorce, and who knows what kind of thoughts SW had. It's not an excuse for what he did, but it can be an explanation to why, was it to hurt his ex-wife or did he see it as a twisted way to "save" his son from the effects of his disease.
