On Dec. 17, 2022, the body of Karla Terron, 27, was found on the Hosking Avenue off-ramp of the southbound 99 Freeway in Bakersfield at around 5 a.m.

The night before her murder, Terron had met with friends at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3834 in San Fernando.

She later went to a home in San Fernando where she was murdered. Authorities believe her body was transported in the trunk of a white 2021 Honda CRV and later left in Bakersfield.

An autopsy revealed her cause of death was from multiple stab wounds. Authorities believe the suspect lit Terron’s body on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Detectives believe her body was then transported from San Fernando to Bakersfield in a 2021 Honda CRV. That vehicle has been recovered and analyzed by authorities. Officials say they found DNA evidence indicating that her body was in the rear cargo compartment.

[LASD Lt. Michael] Modica said Terron's cell phone is still missing, and he urged anyone who found a cell phone around the time of her disappearance to contact detectives.

“Detectives have identified a white 2021 Honda CR-V, which is believed to be the vehicle used to transport Karla's body from San Fernando to Bakersfield,” Modica said. “Detectives impounded and examined that vehicle. Detectives were able to identify DNA evidence that Karla’s body had been in the rear cargo area of that vehicle.”

“Detectives are also aware of second and third hand information that individuals reported hearing a gunshot in the area of Knox Street around the time they believe Karla was murdered,” he said.
