She was last seen March 3 leaving her Lucerne Valley home for a dentist’s appointment, according to her mother, Ginger Stuart, who added: “She had had kind of a rough day, that day, at the dentist’s.”

Deputies on March 8 found Stuart’s white pickup abandoned in Apple Valley, with her bra, shoes, cellphone and medication inside.

The ambiguity of the 'difficulties at the dentist' makes it sound like she had a mental breakdown and they refused to treat her.

When she went out to the back of bed bath and beyond parking lot, where was her truck? No video surveillance of the parking lot? And that's a strange combination of items to leave behind. Unless she didn't leave her bra by her own accord.

Didn't see this article posted...from April but states that one of the sightings was actually NOT Krystie. Wondering if others have been confirmed? Again, this Article says LE is calling this a voluntary missing persons case. Sure would like to know their reasons for this. The bra left behind is troubling to me too, GigTu. How did the truck get from behind B&BW to "the desert in Apple Valley"?

At 5'9" (or 5'8" per later posters) and 107 lbs she should be pretty easy to spot if she's out and about. That is REALLY thin.

The woman's mother, Ginger Stuart, alleges the case has been mishandled from the beginning. She said she believes any evidence found in her daughter’s truck was “contaminated” when officials allowed the tow truck driver to get inside it and drive it to a nearby road to be towed.
Ginger Stuart told the Daily Press the family was allowed to retrieve her daughter's personal belongings from the truck about three weeks after it was found and said they were “absolutely shocked” to see the specific items found.
“We saw her bright red phone sitting right on the front seat; detectives had previously claimed they could not find it,” Stuart said. She also claimed the family was told by detectives that no evidence was found on Krystie’s phone and that the phone activity could not be retrieved becuase it would cost too much — claims that a detective on the case denied.

From November:

On March 3rd, Lucerne Valley resident Krystie Stuart went missing and because of her age some believe that the prompt attention needed may not have immediately been put into her search.

Krystie went missing after a dentist appointment at Jess Ranch Dental. The workers were the last to see Krystie and said that she left upset that she was unable to be seen that day and she lost her keys.

She did leave using a spare key, according to Jess Ranch Dental employees.

There's a man taunting Krystie Stuart's mom on Facebook. He is leaving horrible comments under a missing person poster she put up on her wall. He is telling the mother that Krystie is "dead", among other inappropriate things. I have screen shot it all in case he ever tries to delete his comments and deny what he said. I just wanted to note this guy in case something comes up with him later. I won't name names.

(I personally believe Krystie is still alive as I believe I sighted her along with attendants at a shop and we all called her in to police. I did not know she was missing when I first sighted her - just noted there was something very off about the situation. Researched missing persons and found her - then went to the shop I thought she might be going to and showed her pic to the cashiers who agreed they had also seen Krystie at the shop. There is other info that I cannot share to spare the investigation.)

Krystie's mom posted this info on her wall as she hopes it has no connection to Krystie. The jawbone was found in the very remote area near where Krystie's truck was found. I have hope it is not Krystie!

ETA: wow they identified this person quick as the host of the jawbone. I'm so glad it isn't Krystie! I knew it in my heart :)

Thanks for sharing this article. Sounds like Krystie vanished from the back parking lot behind Bed Bath & Beyond after using the rest room. Yet the man who came forward to police when he saw pics of Krystie and began to think she had walked through his neighborhood & been sitting on the porch of his house in unincorporated Apple Valley was located quite a distance away.

Would be interesting to know if the blood hounds were brought to his residence (hopefully they were) and whether or not they picked up her scent. If not, I would wonder if that was a legitimate sighting. If they did pick up her scent, which way did it go? These are the questions whose answers would help guide an investigation.

Another question I have is who turned in the keys to the dental office? Having possession of her keys would provide someone with the chance to tamper with her vehicle.

Text From Nigeria Attempts To Scam Parents Of Missing Daughter

Someone texted them last week saying they had Krystie in captivity, the couple was relieved. “They were saying Krystie was sick, she needed to go to the hospital." When Krystie’s parents looked closely at the photo that was sent to them, they realized it had been edited. “The face was cut out of a picture that’s on one of Krystie’s flyers."

Sheriff’s investigators traced the texts and found out they had originated in Nigeria. Other families of missing people have also been getting similar messages from scam artists.

Missing on March 3, 2015 after a dental appointment at Jess Ranch Dental in Apple Valley, CA.

There is a $10,000 reward offered to anyone confirming her whereabouts, or leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person(s) responsible for her disappearance.
Please contact Detective Grantham at 760-248-7655 or Message her page at Help find Krystie Stuart.

Bipolar disorder, weaning off meds under doctor’s supervision. The morning of her disappearance she was struggling a bit, but her father Don had reassured her that she was very loved. He suggested she relax, maybe go to the park and she agreed. She hadn’t mentioned her dental appointment she had that day to her father.

The employees at the dentist’s office would later tell Krystie’s parents that Krystie arrived for the appointment, but the dentist couldn’t fix the tooth until Krystie took a course of antibiotics, which the then dentist prescribed. The employees said Krystie seemed to have lost her car and house keys in the short time she was at the dentist’s office and seemed to be under stress. Krystie did have a spare car key and left the office shortly thereafter.

Krystie’s friend would later tell police she had been expecting Krystie to come over after her dentist appointment to spend the night. At 4:21 p.m., cell phone records show Krystie called that friend, who says Krystie told her she was on her way over

Krystie never arrived.

After not hearing from their daughter later that night or the following day, Krystie’s parents Don and Ginger began calling her friends from church to see if anyone knew where Krystie was. Nobody had heard from her. The next morning, on March 5, 2015, Don and Ginger called the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office to report Krystie missing.

Police initially listed Krystie as “voluntary missing” because she is an adult and could have left on her own. Krystie’s parents are certain she would never have left without telling them. (This slowed the response on the investigation) A classification of “suspicious missing” would have escalated the investigative efforts.

MISSING PERSON: Detectives are Searching for Krystie Stuart of Lucerne Valley Last Seen March 2nd ... from SBSD - Victor Valley Sheriff's Department : Nixle

A few days later, on March 8, 2015, Krystie’s “pickup was located, unoccupied, in the desert area of north Apple Valley,” a press release from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Department said. The release said investigators were processing the vehicle but did not believe foul play was involved. The Stuart’s attorney, Cris Armenta, told Dateline that if Krystie had been labeled as “suspicious missing,” police would have had to process Krystie’s truck immediately on scene, rather than after it was towed from the desert.

A bloodhound did not find Krystie’s scent at the scene where her truck was found.

Krystie’s parents Don and Ginger told Dateline that police found her shoes, glasses, bra and medicine in the truck, but her phone was nowhere to be found. Three days after her truck was located, Krystie’s phone pinged on a cell tower “at least 10 or 15 miles away from where her truck was found,” investigator Herring told Dateline. But when Krystie’s parents were allowed to retrieve the truck a few weeks later, they found Krystie’s phone in the driver’s seat, her father told Dateline.

It took over a year to process Krystie’s laptop and phone.

No movement in the case.

In December of 2017, Krystie’s parents were victims of a cruel text extortion scam. The texts said Krystie was being held in Tennessee and they needed $500 to take her to the hospital, as she’d recently fallen sick. After hours of working with police to verify the texts, Don and Ginger were disappointed to find the texts to be pat of a scam originating in Nigeria.

Current status on case remains unsolved with no new information in 2018. There is an article to a Dateline interview I will post here:

Family at dead end searching for information on missing daughter Krystie Stuart

UPDATE: New information to add to this case. When the bloodhounds had been brought in to track Krystie’s scent, they tracked her from the dentist office to the Bed, Bath and Beyond across the street, into the store and into the women’s restroom. Then back out the store and towards the side of the building. There is a blind area in back of this area, and it is secluded from view of the rest of the stores. I shop here regularly, and avoid parking in that area. Also, the Rite Aid pharmacy is also in this center, and Krystie had picked up her prescription there that the dentist office had prescribed. It was later found in the truck that was left in the desert.

This case may be linked to another missing woman's case in the same area within months of Krystie's disappearance. Cal Advocates is working on both cases.

*I want to say this about the mental health aspect of this case. A diagnosis of bipolar disorder does not automatically mean that is the cause for the person to be missing. This is especially true in a case like Krystie's where she had strong parental support and no history of running off or going any length of time without being in contact with her family. There are many strange things about this case, none of which point to her bipolar disorder being the only cause of her missing status.

Again, on Friday, February 1, 2019, from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm, personnel from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station, with the assistance of San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Departments Aviation Division and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Search and Rescue, canvased the area northeast of Fairview Valley where the remains of Krystie Stuart were recovered. Additional remains were located and were turned over to the custody of the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Division for further investigation, officials said.
