This is the type of case that will keep you up at night.

After being married for 15 years and having three children together, Mary Louise McCullar had finally found the strength to leave her husband. On February 27 1987, she got a restraining order against him. That same day, he abducted her from her home where a day of sexual assault ensued before Mary was finally able to flee. Mary told deputies she was terrified her husband Jerrold was going to get away with it. But for a time, it seemed maybe Mary would get justice.

Jerrold faced serious charges including kidnapping and rape. Mary told the horrifying story at his preliminary hearing. But she’d never get to give her account to a jury. On June 6 1987, Mary’s children awoke to their mother struggling with someone, before ultimately complying after an object was pressed into her lower back. She was forced out of the home barefoot and terrified. She was never seen again. A social worker later reported one of her children knew it was their father who’d taken their mother and appeared to have witnessed her being sexually assaulted before she was taken and never seen again. Her estranged husband lived into old age, and is now deceased.

It’s very difficult to process that no one was ever held accountable for her murder, because officials could never actually say she was murdered. To this day, with her body never found, she is still considered a missing person. Is it really possible there is no one out there with information that could finally close her case? Information that could finally lead loved ones to her body? Mary McCullar was a loving mother who was doing her best to protect herself and her children. She deserves better than this. She deserves a proper burial. If you have any information on this case, you’re asked to call the Kern County Sheriff’s Department at (661)-861-3110. Or you can remain anonymous by calling Secret Witness at (661)-322-4040.

Heartbreaking. I can't imagine what her children went through - both while she was in the home with them, and after her disappearance.

Unfortunately, we all know who killed her... and the worst of all is that the police did nothing at the time to help her... all of this really could have been avoided... the children witnessed a rape of their mother by this dirty scum of a husband...hopefully those children didn't grow up with problems because of their father...
either way
rest in peace
