Authorities are searching for a 39-year-old Chula Vista mother of three who has been missing since last week.

Maya “May” Millete was last seen Thursday evening in her Chula Vista home near the San Miguel Ranch area, according to her family members.

Bumping my prayer to the new thread. Heads up to @Niner about new trial date.

I just heard on the local news that July 7, 2025 is the new trial date for Larry Millete. (It'll be over four years since Maya went missing then.) MOO, LM must be real confident Maya won't be found during all these delays. That evidence could hurt him even more at trial. Well, I pray they find Maya before then. Divine Intervention please to bring her home to her Children and her Family.

In court on Tuesday, the judge granted the defense's request to further delay the start of the trial. The judge in the case has set the new start for the trial to July 7 of next year, almost two years later than the original date that had been set.
[...]
In the end, though, the judge granted the defense's request and said anyone helping Larry communicate inappropriately could be taken into custody.

Thank you for the update @Curious Me - I will post this now - just to keep my notes straight.

7/12/24 Update: Email alert says trial on 1/6/25 has been vacated. A status conference hearing on 8/5/24 & motions hearing on 12/2/24 for 4 days.
8/5/24 Update: Millete appeared in Chula Vista court Monday afternoon for a hearing in advance of his murder trial, currently set for January 2025. But the judge said the defense intends to file a written motion to continue the trial to a later date. Both sides will argue that motion on 12/10/24 @ 1:30pm, the judge said in court. Motions hearings starting on 12/2/24 thru 12/5/24 were vacated.
9/10/24 Update: Motions hearing held today, 9/10/24. In court on Tuesday, Judge Enrique Camarena granted the defense's request to further delay the start of the trial. The Judge in the case has set the new start for the trial to 7/7/25, almost two years later than the original date that had been set. Defense attorneys asked on Tuesday for more time to review evidence, while prosecutors opposed any further delays. They also accused Larry of circumventing court orders & communicating with his children, all in an effort to manipulate the children, who are both victims & witnesses in the case. In the end, though, Judge Camarena granted the defense's request & said anyone helping Larry communicate inappropriately could be taken into custody. Next motions hearing on 12/2/24 @ 9am.
*Guardianship Case: Family Court Case The judge final decision on custody of the children likely will go to Maya's sister Maricris Drouaille. Review hearing on 11/18/24.
Conservatorship Case: Review hearing on
12/16/24.

Sept. 11, 2024
Defense attorneys for Larry Millete say his previous representation wasn’t just inadequate, it was criminal. That was part of a lengthy motion filed in a successful effort to get his murder trial pushed back to July 7, 2025.
[.....]
The case has experienced numerous delays, most recently due to a change in Millete’s defense team. Previously, he was represented by private attorney Bonita Martinez. A judge granted her request to leave the case in October of 2023. Millete is now represented by Liann Sabatini and Colby Ryan of the Virtus Law Group.

Sabatini had previously asked the court for the trial to be delayed, citing the large amount of discovery evidence her team would need to review. On Tuesday, that argument for more time included a slew of accusations against Martinez.
[.....]
The court filing states that Millete was concerned about Martinez’s access to his finances and asked his parents not to connect Martinez with over $200,000 in cryptocurrency investments and $40,000 in precious metal and coin collections.

The documents say Martinez persuaded Millete’s parents to give her access to his finances. That included purchasing an iPhone and iPad connected to his mobile account, giving her security authentication to his financial accounts and those cryptocurrency investments.
[.....]
Sabatini says her firm reported these claims to the State Bar of California, which regulates licenses to practice law. However, she says that agency told her to contact law enforcement because it cannot take action until any outcome of that type of prosecution. The documents say no report has been made to law enforcement yet, but attorneys intend to in the future.

Reportedly, Bonita Martinez was granted permission to withdraw when LM could not continue to pay her for her services to trial, and LM appointed a public defender.

If LM was so worried about BM and his assets, I don't understand why he didn't terminate her services after the disastrous preliminary hearing!

Also, if these investments/assets are allegedly missing-- I believe 50% are estate assets reported by the probate trustee that have not been accounted for by LM.

Thinking back, BM also represented LM's parents in the competing petition with MD for custody of their grandchildren. We know that she withdraw here too as they represented themselves at the trial held in August. MOO

Looks like the 12/10/24 motion hearing for the murder has been cancelled also - at least this one shows the next one in April

@Niner -- Update to the Conservatorship Case. Appears they are only waiting on authorization to enter into exclusive listing agreement per 11/12/24 hearing to sell property. Websleuth system is still making a mess of posts from Official Court dockets so hope you can read details this from pdf.

ROA #50-- petition of real property and return assets to conservatee dates back to 3/14/24, and was objected to by LM per ROA #64 (filed by Judith Millete).

They failed to perform duties per ROA #74, 9/11/24 - Notice of Failure to Perform Duties.

Order (Stipulation and Order to Extend Deadline for Respondent's Motion RE:Jurisdiction) per ROA #76, 9/30/24. I hope this means the grandparents will finally be evicted in time for the real estate listing.
