I'm devastated that Melanie has been found deceased.
But I want to thank those that spoke up and led to LE finding her body.

This is a terrible tragedy, but it's awesome that LE solved this so quickly.

Even when we think we immediately "know" on WS who did it, sometimes it takes years before an arrest.

It also sounds likely that they are a couple of dumb criminals as well.

I had read about this chase and comments but didn't have anything at the time to bring it forward. So glad they are caught. My prayers for Melanie and her family. she's just a kid. Heartbreaking. IMO

Considering the very remote location of (mainly rural farm land and orchards) IMO it's very fortunate that a witness reported this car and the two men to LE. In this area I generally wouldn't expect there to be any witnesses.

Melanie's car was found burning on Avenue 14, but she was found somewhere along Avenue 20, which is a considerable distance north.

This is a very remote area, and Avenue 14 appears to be a desolate paved road in poor condition. The side roads in this area are mainly dirt roads. MOO, but given the fact that this is all rural farming country it would seem unlikely that Melanie would be visiting anyone in this area, unless that person lived on a nearby farm. There appear to be very few residences between Madera and Firebaugh.

I'd be interested in details about Melanie's burned car. Does LE believe the fire was accidental, or was it set intentionally, perhaps to conceal evidence of some kind?

i grew up there, the area where the car was left is way out there but its a due west drive down avenue 14 / olive ave from madera to that spot. there are a lot of little enclaves between madera and firebaugh but it is rural.

Super thankful the perp was caught quickly and Melanie was found. Horrible things to be thankful for, but I am thankful.
