That depends on what you mean by "extra extra money." Adopting two different sets of brothers wouldn't bring a higher adoption assistance payment per child but that would make children from both sets eligible for some assistance. Payments are not guaranteed with every child that falls under the criteria and the amount varies based each child's needs.

Fostering sibling sets doesn't bring in extra money. The point of the adoption assistance is to encourage families to adopt so children are not in foster care until they turn 18. There are criteria for what makes a child harder to adopt. Keeping siblings together is just one criteria. One of the criteria for eligibility is that social workers have searched for and been unable to find another adoptive home for the child but that can be waived if it is considered "not in the best interest of the child." It is always waived when a child is considered to have bonded with a foster family that says they will adopt with AAP.

Foster children get more money than adopted children except when the child has extreme special needs. The adoption assistance payments cannot be more than a foster payment but they are rarely close to the same amount. Children eligible because they are older or siblings get much less than a child with special needs. Foster children continue to be monitored by social workers. Adopted children are not.

Is that definitely the case in California? I could swear I read some quite convincing info about siblings qualifying for the same category of enhanced payments as children with additional needs, or a similar type of enhanced payment anyway. It was a long time ago now though.

What they were saying was moronic and very damaging. I hope they make a public retraction and YouTube shuts down their channels for good.

There are some really good people on YouTube that care a lot about accuracy, I don’t watch random people. Also, most people that make videos about ongoing cases are usually not to be trusted anyways.

The category of post-adoption payments called Adoption Assistance Program was designed for special needs kids and expanded to other foster kids that are harder to place for adoption. Often it's stated that older kids and siblings qualify as "special needs" but really it just means they qualify for those benefits. There is no set monthly benefit amount in the law. The payment just cannot be more than the foster payment was. To get a Specialized Care Increment there has to be specific health or behavioral problems documented that show that the foster parents need to spend more than the usual amount of time and money caring for the child. A child getting SCI will almost always have that amount added on to their AAP payment post-adoption.
I can't remember if Orrin was 3 yet when they were adopted but Orsen would not have qualified for any post-adoption payments on his own. Since they were adopted together Orsen would also qualify for payments. That amount is negotiated with the adoptive parents at the time of the adoptions.

California's a big state so I will clarify that in the counties I am familiar with payments for healthy children are much less than the payments for foster care expenses. Kern County may negotiate something closer to the max on a more regular basis.

This is disgusting. These busybody youtubers need to back off and stay out of people's business.
If I were Cherri Vasquez, I'd be filing lawsuits against every single one of them.

It is so sad. What a failure on so many people, so many agencies imo. It's just not ok that 2 minor little boys can disappear without a trace, and NO ONE is behind bars. I mean is this how things are now? NO. What is going on?

I suspect there are lots of traces, but possibly not enough of them yet, that the BPD can go ahead with an arrest on charges that will stick. Sometimes, in some of these wretched cases that involve children, the LE actively involved in the investigation will comment about how frustrating it is for them as well, when they can't yet bring closure or justice to the innocent victims. And they know 10 times more than the public does. I certainly don't envy them, that's for sure.

Anything is possible, as we have seen thread after thread.
In this particular case, based on the various inconsistencies, I speculate it is indeed foul play.

Additional data could certainly confirm or refute that speculation. Let's hope we find out one way or another.

I always believe that there is “evidence found” in a lack of evidence, so purely circumstancial. In this case it would be the lack of scent outside the home, lack of confirmed sightings prior to Calcity, lack of photos, lack of parental searches or pleas, etc. but these alone merit nothing without any other types of evidence so that’s what we’re waiting on essentially

Rarely nowadays do the police name a POI before an arrest is made. That doesn't at all mean there isn't some evidence of a crime.

As it stands now, these parents could still be eligible to foster and adopt more children.

They have not been charged with any crimes.

Terrible tragedy that two siblings in their care disappeared.
