Tina Hoang was found face down next to tower 71 March 4, 2013.

Now Nancy Hammour has been found Sept. 2, 2013.

Both women were involved in prostitution. Both women had children.

This is very unusual for Newport Beach and the victims had similar profiles are were not local.

Here is Tina's story:

(note the number 71 (Gary ridgeway) AND the white candles)

Very worried we have a copycat of both the green river killer and LISK.

I do have one lead I've been thinking about.

Help me out websleuthers.

It is only a 6 minute MAX drive from where Tina was placed to where Nancy was placed.

They seem to both have been dropped in the areas very early in the morning, just before sun up.

Both victims were minorities (which was a specific trademark of the green river killer who killed 71 victims - which coincidentally happens to be the number of the tower that Tina Hoang was left next to naked, faced down, with 3 white candles placed next to her body.)

I literally just moved from where these girls bodies were found. If you have any questions about the area, I'd be happy to share any knowledge I have as a local.

These deaths are EXTREMELY uncommon... They have everyone on the Balboa peninsula and in Newport/corona del mar... Freaked out...

This is exactly where Tina was found

Detectives say in the last article I posted that there's no relation between she and Tina's deaths, but I have a hard time believing that isn't just an investigatory tactic... Or the city not wanting tourists to think there is a Murderer running around that tiny little area...

To be fair to them, they put it much more strongly than you did: ""There is no evidence of any kind suggesting that the two cases are related, and significant evidence indicating that they are completely unrelated," Manzella said in an email."

So it seems highly premature to be discussing this as a serial murderer -- it's jumping to conclusions, putting the cart before the horse.

I lived and was born in Newport. I believe these are related<Mod Snip>.

Too many similarities with the victims.

If anything it is important to note the rise in escort and sex work even in one of the most affluent counties in the country.

I'm going to start specifically working in ministry with many of these sex trafficked females and females involved in prostitution/stripping in orange county, CA. No one cares for them and LE notoriously skips over the cases of females involved in the sex trade bc they "asked for it".

If you oppose this than you can list that here as well.

I believe these two girls ARE related and I don't think a detective would divulge if the deaths were related anyhow. Do you understand what that would do to that tiny tourist area if it got out that 2 women were killed possibly by the same person in a ritualistic fashion?

No business.

You're free of course to assert that LE is lying to everyone, but I have seen nothing to indicate that the two victims were killed in a ritualistic fashion, and I do wonder why you would think that LE would consider two murderers less of a problem than one.

One can clearly see that an individual can have access, via boat, close to both of the locations where the girls were placed. Newport harbor is right in between... Balboa bay, too.

Three white candles were found by Tina's body. She was specifically left by a lifeguard tower numbered 71 in front of the house my parents used to rent.

I know more about this town and how it works. Money rules all. Sorry if that is frustrating. It sure frustrates me.

2hip....my Mom lives in NB and I live in a neighboring town. Although we have, of course, read, about these murders there doesn't seem to be the panic that you speak of. Barley a blip, sad to say.

I guess if more women show up dead we will know...but for right now I don't see a serial killer on the loose.

Was Tina's COD ever released? I thought I read somewhere it was an overdose, but that could be totally wrong. She was due to appear in court in the next few days, wasn't she?

With Nancy my first thought was domestic. Sorry.

2Hip- I am in Long Beach now but grew up in Costa Mesa and my boyfriend and many of my friends went to Newport Harbor. My best guy friend lived on 62nd street, on the water and his parents own William Harold Jewelers on the Peninsula. I managed a restaurant on 31st street (on the Lido Island side) for many years called Alta Coffee. I am 48, do you mind me asking if we are close in age and where you went to school? I had heard nothing of this. I have a dear friend who lives on Balboa Island and will call her today to find out what she knows and what she is hearing. I also have friends on the Fire Department there and will do the same with them!

Thank you Frigga I would so appreciate this! I'm 28 and was born in HOAG memorial hospital (same hospital John Wayne passed away at! The duke!).

I recently moved from Superior Ave and Ticonderoga. I would walk my dog down to the Newport Dog Beach almost every morning. Walked to the pavillions to get my groceries. Addicted to The frozen banana hut on balboa! :)

I lived for some time in the south as well, but majority of my life in SoCal.

Hey SoCal Friend!

It just seems to me Frigga that these two deaths are VERY uncommon in Newport Beach. I'm even interested in the fact that the LE and media seemed to have gone out of their way to make sure we "know" there is no connection between the two homicides. I'm not buying it. Any info you could provide would help me sleep better at night :)

Her death was first released to media as suspicious, then later confirmed to be a homicide.

Where is the link in this thread which details Tina's death?

Here ya go! Sorry I forgot.

"NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is under way after a female body was found on a beach in Newport Beach early Monday morning.

Authorities responded after a couple walking on the beach found the body face down in the sand near lifeguard tower 71 at about 6 a.m. Police are looking for surveillance cameras that might help explain what happened to the young woman.

LE making an arrest so quickly makes it seem extremely unlikely that these cases were linked or committed by a serial murderer, so it appears that LE was telling the truth.

Agreed. IMO probably a boyfriend of hers.
