Feet-on-the-ground observation! Wow, just what's needed in this case. And funnily enough one of my sleuthing contacts was @ the casino in the '70s, but haven't yet had a chance to learn more.
I discovered one important thing when I went over the news articles - Donna was not nursing @ The Letterman during the time of the Zodiac's Paul Stine murder [Oct. '69] , Her tenure was only five months, Jan/May 1970 so there is in fact no direct connection with the Zodiac. Bit of a disappointment, that.

Have updated the Hollingsworth layer of the map.

Maybe I missed it on your map, but according to a website, at the time he vanished, Hollingsworth was living 0.1 miles from Donna Lass's new apartment when they both vanished. Here is the website: Charles Hollingsworth

"Charles resided in a lodge at 3840 Pioneer Trail, while Donna lived at 3893 Pioneer Trail. Charles apparently liked to gamble, and would spend much of his time at the Sahara Hotel & Casino, where Donna was employed as a nurse. The Sahara was less than a three minute drive from their homes on Pioneer Trail"

Two people in the medical field both vanish within weeks of each other and are living 0.1 miles a part? Could be a coincidence, but just seems hard to brush off

Hi Morf & thanks, this is just what I was hoping for. The maps were only good at the time I posted them, so I'll update it now, and hope there's more insights to come.
Charles's ex-wife married a guy who was named in the putative FBI investigation into corruption in South Lake Tahoe, and that investigation also involved the Sahara Tahoe & the local real estate business, which would link all of our disappearances.

That's interesting I did not know. For what it's worth, I reached out to two members of Hollingsworth's family to help clarify some things, also to Richard's sister, and to Lass's family, NONE of them responded, so I guess they are not open to discussing their loved one's cases

That's a real shame. While I understand there reactions on one hand, I also ask why these cases are still up on missing person websites if they are unwilling to respond. Or why they don't simply make a full written statement for one of the trusted sites, like the Charley project or DoeNetwork and say that is all the information they have.

I have discovered 2 Hollingsworth daughters, born in the 1960s so really too young to impact this investigation. Mrs H.'s second husband was the pharmacist / partner in The Tahoe Valley Pharmacy, South Lake Tahoe. He did rather well for himself because he had a plane and a collection of classic cars.

To late to edit...just to say I'm super-sorry but it isn't possible to change the distance indicator on the map from Kilometres to Miles. Hope this helps

Rough equivalents
8 Km = 5 miles
16 Km = 10 miles
80 Km = 50 miles
160 Km = 100 miles
800 Km = 500 miles
1600 Km = 1000 miles

Anybody here an aviation expert? What is the range of a private light aircraft, say a nice little Cessna?

CORRECTION I got the wrong name. The husband is not named in the article, although the rest of the statement holds true

This is a major update on the HOLLINGSWORTH disappearance. From the Sacramento Bee November 10 1970. Apparently Charles drove away that night...I've had to paraphrase because the file is too big for WebSleuths

Merklee, Alpine County: "Hunt for Tahoe Doctor Centered in Alpine"

A search of the area around the Leviathan Mine is planned for Dr. Charles Hollinsworth [39] whose car was found nearby. He was reported missing Oct. 28 but no word of his disappearance was released on the request of his brother John. The car was spotted by Alpine County Game Warden, Artie Brown, and identified after a licence check.
[All spelling mistakes are Fox's]

Cynical old Fox, me - but why was it found over the county line? Did he think, "I'm going to commit suicide, but first I'll drive into the next county, just to mix things up a bit". There is nothing in the article that mentions anything left in the car, by the way

I took a crack at a map as well (which is still a work-in-progress), mainly with the purpose of contextualizing the places our missing persons disappeared from. One interesting thing I found was the murder of Ralston Humphreys, a wealthy Texan who moved into a house he rented in Zephyr Cove about five months prior, in his driveway in 1969. He was shot. As far as I could find, police were never able to identify his killer.

Wow, CS! I'm already rivetted by the shady dealings @ Zephyr Cove, the Chartrand bombing in particular, because the newspaper article was very informative. Illegal gambling. In Fresno! Who knew? Something there for the old map, my friend! I'd be tempted to start another myself but I've already got enough of these things, you mustn't get me side-tracked. Following your's eagerly. Top stuff!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I love making maps (as I'm sure you can probably tell lol). Another very interesting thing I found was a failed murder-for-hire plot. Apparently unknown person(s) hired George Lovell to plant a bomb inside the car of Robert J. McMahon, a real estate broker in South Lake Tahoe, in July of 1968. According to the Sheriff's Department, the unknown people who hired Lovell to kill McMahon told him it was a (unpaid) test––if Lovell killed McMahon, they would pay him to kill other people. Luckily, the bomb did not detonate as intended but as far as I could find out, the police were never able to determine who hired Lovell.

Fox's theory regarding Charles Hollingsworth. [Feel free to knock it around. It's a work in progress.]
1) Charles committed suicide, place unknown, at a time most likely to inconvenience other people, no doubt influenced by the pay out on an insurance policy which would be rendered void by suicide. I'm thinking that his body was then taken in his own car and dumped in or near Las Vegas.

And his car was then returned via Alpine county, dumped near the Leviathan Mine and then the perp. hiked back to the highway to be picked up by associate.

Spot the difference. The top picture is from the original sales pamphlet for Incline Village, the bottom, Zodiac's familiar postcard of March 23 1971. The red areas on the original are those obscured by the sender [Whoever, Z or wannabe]. I'm wondering if anyone can see a significance in those choices.

I have been thwarted by the 140 character limit on my status update, so I have to post here.

I unfortunately can't find a lot post Richard's disappearance. This is the only article I could find on him post June 1973.

13 January 1974, The Sacramento Bee, pg 19

Grass Valley PD seems to have gotten involved since he previously lived in Auburn before the house fire at the place he was renting.

What a sweet, good looking guy. I wonder what happened to him. I suppose we can't rule out suicide.

What appears to be mild depression on the outside can be profound despair on the inside.
I agree, he was very handsome. What a shame whatever happened to him. May he R.I.P.
