August 30, 2024 – Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they are requesting the assistance of the community regarding any information that could help locate Ronnie Dale Henley and Ronnie Lee Duncan Jr.

Ronnie Dale Henley and Ronnie Lee Duncan Jr. were last seen at the end of March 2024, when they left Waterford, California and drove towards Henley’s property in Jupiter, California along with Henley’s dog.

Ronnie Dale Henley is described as a White adult male, 57 years of age, 5’9”, 170 pounds, brown hair, and hazel eyes. It is unknown what Henley was last seen wearing.

Ronnie Lee Duncan Jr. is described as a White adult male, 45 years of age, 5’8”, 135 pounds, and grey hair. It is unknown what Duncan was last seen wearing.

While driving from Waterford to Jupiter in late March, Ronnie Henley phoned several friends, saying that the truck broke down somewhere on the way to Twain Harte.

A friend reported them missing to the Stanislaus County sheriff on April 24.

The dog, a German Shepherd named Pepper, was found along Italian Bar Road in Tuolumne County -- date is not given.

The truck was found on June 21, on forest service road 3N11. "Forest Road 3N11 is north of the Lost Dutch Mining Association Italian Bar Camp on Italian Bar Road, also known as Forest Road 4N26, which eventually leads to Jupiter."

After the truck was found, Tuolumne County Sheriff took over the investigation.

The truck has not been towed as of August 25. It is now full of bullet holes and stripped of its contents.

• “I have talked to the detectives with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office earlier today [Friday Aug 30]. They sent out some searchers. ... I first heard he was missing July 1. For a while I thought he got murdered. Now I think he’s just lost.”
• Henley was in a vehicle accident several years ago and he’s had memory issues since.
• “...there were times when he would forget about appointments, forget to pay his bills.”
• She has called hospitals in the Mother Lode region to ask if there were any unidentified patients.
• She last saw Henley 6 years ago when he was living in Hickman ... it was the one and only time she met him. She said he was supposed to move "here." (Arkansas)

This should have been about a 2 1/2 hour drive. What happened?

Truck found - Forest Road 3N11, south of Jupiter.

• Why did it take almost two months to find the truck?
• Why was it later riddled with bullets?

Dog found - Italian Bar Road, north of the truck and closer to Jupiter.

• When was Pepper found?

...Deputies, along with TCSO Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel, initially attempted to access the scene using a side-by-side vehicle and by hiking in, but steep terrain and darkness forced them to suspend the operation until the following morning. On Friday, TCSO SAR members assisted detectives in reaching the location.

After collecting the bones and processing the scene, detectives also collected clothing and electronic devices from the scene.

Immediate recovery of the remains by the sheriff’s office was held off due to the location’s challenging terrain and the continuing loss of daylight.
